Tyler D., C. Blog Post #7: Creation in Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Hesiod’s Theogony, 2015. In the book Ovid Metamorphoses, the story of creation depicts some similarities and differences between his beliefs and the works of several Greek Poets. Hesiod’s Theogony and Ovid’s metamorphoses are similar in how their myth about the creation of stories.  Both authors have extensively discussed the creation of man, the sky, the universe, the gods, and the world. However, Theogony presents the creation of the gods more extensively compared to metamorphoses.   Both stories have appreciated the use of water and the earth in creation of man. Metamorphoses include a woman in the description, whereas Theogony emphasizes how the two were created separately.  I agree with this description as it consequently brings out apparent differences and similarities in the two stories. The two texts have brought out how both Jupiter and Zeus punish humankind. Nevertheless, the two gods have punished humankind for different reasons and using different ways.   For instance, the man was given fire by Prometheus, who later assists man to trick Zeus into taking a…

The Major Forces Influencing Human Behavior at Work Human capital is the most valuable resource an organization can ever have. It is through this capital that a company can transform ideas and other resources into products and services that can increase profitability while serving the firm’s purpose. As opposed to machines, however, human beings experience emotions and feelings, which in turn affect their behavior. This fact makes it necessary for organizations to identify the factors that influence employee behavior encouraging those that elicit positive reactions while eliminating those that do not. This essay discusses six major forces that influence employee behavior at work and provides recommendations to increase employee awareness. Organizational Culture Organizational culture refers to the underlying values, beliefs, assumptions, and other means of interaction that adds to the psychological and social environment of an organization. According to Diamantidis and Chatzoglou (2019), it is the means through which individuals in a workplace develop meaning and stability, and it affects employee behavior and motivation (p.171). Culture varies from one company to another and at the same time, differs significantly from…

Antisocial behaviors at the workplace Antisocial behaviors at the workplace occurring in the form of physical and verbal assaults, threats, coercion, intimidation, if not arrested in its primary stage, can inconvenience an organization’s operations. Typically, workers engage in antisocial behavior for various reasons. Organizational competition, frustration (Spector, 1997), work urgency and specific job demands are some of the factors that heighten people’s emotions and trigger antisocial work behaviors (Giacalone, & Greenberg, 1997; Neuman, & Baron, 1997). Supervisors at healthcare facilities always wish to ensure timely work output. The need to guarantee timeliness in organizational operations may provoke the supervisor to put pressure on employers to get the job done before the stipulated time elapses (Neuman, & Baron, 1997). The role of a supervisor usually is to lead a group of employees towards a common goal set by an organization. This role, however, is encompassed by myriad challenges bearing in mind some of the negative traits of employees. Managing and controlling such employees with interpersonal attributes like psychological defects and emotional difficulties such as depression and frustrations at times, require aggressiveness.…

Can You Use an Aluminium Boat in Saltwater? So, you’ve had several exciting experiences on those inland waters with your beloved powerboat, have finally retired to some warmer coastal areas, and you are wondering if you can take on the salty waters with your aluminum boat? Well, according to Ed Sherman, an education director at the American Boat and Yacht Council, Saltwater is hash stuff. He says that saltwater can corrode anything in your boat that comes in contact with it. So, it doesn’t matter what kind of propulsion system is in place – inboard, outboard, jet drive, I/O. However, Mr. Sherman adds that although saltwater is not aluminum’s best friend, moving your beloved powerboat from inland to coastal waters shouldn’t make you anxious. All you need is a change in maintenance habits and anodes. And he’s not wrong. Census statistics show that many veteran freshwater boaters eventually retire with their beloved boats to the warmer coastal climates. And that with just a change in maintenance routine, they are able to keep everything in their boats one hundred. Some of…

Forces supporting and opposing holacracy. Forces supporting holacracy in a firm is the availability of capital for the installation of a reliable information management system, improve employee morale through welfare benefits, and adaptability to competition in the retail shoe industry. Factors limiting the adoption of holacracy include poor technical skills and lack of hiring expert human capital, leading to less than optimal decision making. Failure to incorporate staff and employees at a firm in the implementation process of holacracy creates internal and external mismanagement of resources, leading to detachment from organizational goals and objectives. The concept of holacracy would survive and be successful in my firm due to dedication to industrial and process adaptability, employee training, and motivation while improving the allocation of organizational resources for optimal decision-making. A suitable recommendation to firms seeking to adopt and implement holacracy is conducting a feasibility study on the opportunity costs of modifying hierarchy in decision-making. Market and product-oriented firms could take holacracy by eliminating bureaucracies in marketing and product design while allocating expert services in sales and customer services. In conclusion, competitive…

Fungai’s Madonna and Child with Saints and Angels and Di Credi’s Madonna and Child Its worth depicting that the painting Madonna and Child with Saints and Angels is a fine art that was completed through the renaissance period by Fungai (1460-1516), an Italian.
