Ibn Al-Haytham Question 1 From the three sources assigned, write down vital important things you learned about Ibn Al-Haytham Ibn Al-Haytham is a prominent Muslim scholar born who made remarkable contributions in several branches of science such as optics, meteorology astronomy, and mathematics. Ibn Al-Haytham was born in 965 in the port city of Basra (Macaw Books, 2018). He showed a high level of unique intelligence right from childhood, which made him receive the best education available at Abbasid Caliphate. He began his career by being appointed Basra governor, a position he declined, citing alienation from bureaucracy and dissatisfaction from the absence of a search for religious truth (Macaw Books, 2018, 7). He then devoted himself to the study of science. Ibn Al-Haytham’s influence made him be considered to solve the Cairo flooding problem. While in Cairo, be proposed the Caliph, a hydraulic project – an early version of the Aswan dam; however, the president refused (sssn2). Devoted to science, he is known to be the first individual who discovered that light travel in a straight line using ancient Indian…
Meal Manipulation of Microbiome Background Information The microbiome communities comprising of bacteria, fungi among other microorganisms, have been referred by many scientists as the microbiota, and sometimes microflora, with the genes encoding them termed as the microbiomes. The health organism has unique features that readily distinguish them from the non-healthy individual body, rendering those able to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy microorganisms able to detect and identify a disease that has an association with a microbiome. People have acknowledged the high number of benefits accrued from the microbiomes that can withstand the entire changes that occur during stress psychologically. However, following the less diverse microbiota associated with infection, the benefit of the microbiomes decreases, leading to lower diseases once there is inflammation. Besides, the researchers are facing a challenge in understanding the diversified characteristics of the microbiomes among individuals. Such traditional methods as cultivation of the organisms have resulted in unreliable information as far as the manipulation of microbiomes in the medical perspective is concerned. Some approaches like NGS have helped to understand the uniqueness of the microbiota population as…
The legalization of marijuana has several impacts in Colorado and other parts of the United States The legalization of marijuana has several impacts in Colorado and other parts of the United States. The number of people arrested due to possession of the drug has declined, most people have adapted to using the drug within the specifications and requirements of the government despite the step to legalize the drug having positive impacts, and it also has negative consequences. This literature review provides a summary of findings and other related information of events since the legalization of the drug. Previously marijuana was considered to be an illegal drug which its use was prohibited fully. The literature review and other information represented below are gathered in several ways. The first source of literature for review comes from web reports, spreadsheets data and briefing information. The second source of information is generated from an analysis of personal information available concerning the subject. According to the CSA the drug marijuana is clustered under schedule one and is presumed to be dangerous through the state legislature…
Waverly Jong As a young child, Waverly Jong was a chess champion that retrieved advice and wisdom from her mother on how to become a better player. Her mother, Lindo Jong, had taught her the art of invisible strength, a technique used to show no emotion and to make herself characterized as innocent in the eyes of her opponent. Waverly Jong used this advice wisely, but sometimes she thought it was a bit too repetitive and annoying. After a particular chess game in which Waverly won, Lindo gave notice to her daughter by telling her to lose fewer pieces during the game. Lindo Jong had stated, “Lost eight pieces this time. Last time was eleven. What I tell you? Better off lose less!” (Tan 97). In Lindo’s eyes, she is using tough love to help her daughter further succeed, but Waverly is annoyed by this. She believes that she doesn’t need this advice due to her past accomplishments and develops an attitude toward her mother. Waverly is unable to see her mother’s purpose in her comments. She isn’t able to…
How to test a Dwell Angle with a multimeter Dwell angle is the variety of degrees (o) through that the distributor cam rotates, whereas the breaker points are closed on ancient contact breaker style ignition systems. Remove the covers from the test tips; insert the multimeter’s black lead to COM socket (J), and the multimeter’s red lead to the V revolutions per minute socket. Set the rotary switch to operate/vary (F) to the specified DWELL range by the number of cylinders on the engine to be calculated. Connecting the black test results in the negative lead-acid battery (ground) or chassis, and therefore the red test leads to the facet distributor of the induction coil. The dwell angle is going to be mirrored once the engine is started. Note: the purpose gap should be accrued to cut back the dwell angle reading; the point gap must be diminished to extend the dwell angle. Relating to specific directions regarding dwelling house configurations and modifications, see the owner’s reference book, workshop manual, or different manufacturer’s documents. How to live the cycle of duties…
How Space Distances and Territoriality Either Enhance or Destroy Relationships First, there is the public space. Usually, the type of communication that happens in this space is formal and not intimate. The space can enhance a relationship by providing for a platform whereby significant leaders can speak to the electorate. On the other hand, it can destroy a relationship in the event an individual disseminates crucial information that happens to be unacceptable to the audience. Concerning the social space, a relationship can be enhanced appropriately with the aid of interactive consultations such as business meetings and the event of suspicion reduction. Conversely, it can destroy a relationship if it is utilized to criticize an individual present. Thirdly, there is the personal space that extends to our closest friends. This space enhances a relationship by providing a platform where persons can share crucial information with their friends and also ask for help. On the contrary, it can destroy a relationship if the essential information shared is spread to unauthorized persons. Territoriality is a distinctive drive to gather up and protect spaces.…
Criticizing Scale, Causality, Complexity, and Emergence The analysis of the scale and the complex systems does not give an explicit linking on the range of disciplines involved, which gives rise to much debate and misunderstandings. An individual could assume that it is easier to navigate through complexities of scale, realizing the power of being conscious, and visualizing the inter-connectedness involved in it. However, the understanding scale and the processes arising from it is still difficult for most people. It is made up of complex systems that rely on other explanations to clearly give an individual basic understanding of the term, and one has to draw insights from these systems to define it clearly. The scale has been rejected as an ontological category because the term does not define itself clearly in geography, and many questions surround it without getting a unique explanation that is accepted by the geographers. No one knows how to apply scale or the concept involved when operating with the concepts of scale, causality, and related complex systems. A poly-scalar way of approach is required for an…
EFFECTS OF PH ON ENZYME ACTIVITY Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of pH on catalase enzymeactivity. Introduction Every chemical reaction within the cell requires an enzyme to lower its activation energy. Even exergonic reactions happen too slowly to be useful without a catalyst. Almostall enzymes are proteins. To catalyze a reaction, the enzyme must interact with the reactant or reactants. This interaction takes place in a region of the enzyme called the active site. The reactant, or substrate for the enzyme, must fit perfectly into the active site of the enzyme in order for the enzyme to operate. Therefore, most enzymes are only able to catalyze a single chemical reaction. This is called specificity, and most enzymes are very specific (Cecamgmmacz, 2011). Under favorable conditions, the enzyme can operate with maximum efficiency, andthe chemical reaction occurs very rapidly. This is an enzyme’s optimum activity (Brooker,2011). Some environmental conditions, e.g. temperature and pH, can affect an enzymes activity. The concentration of enzyme or substrate can also have a dramatic effect on enzyme activity, and that…
corpus analysis study in Applied Linguistics Computational Linguistics is the branch of linguistics in which the techniques of computer science are applied to the analysis and synthesis of language and speech. Corpus-based studies follow two main pathways; either exploring available electronic corpora , or analyzing selected texts via computational analysis tools. In a research paper, develop a corpus analysis study in the one of the following fields of Applied Linguistics: Stylistics, Discourse Analysis, Translation & Contrastive Studies, TEFL. Suggested levels of analysis are: Semantic prosody Collocations Idioms Lexical choices – Neologisms Syntactic structures (verbs, adverbs, modal verbs, conjunctions) Pragmatic structures: hedges, deixis (pronouns) Paper Introduction Background Aim of your paper / Research Question Theoretical Background (use 3 sources) Review of Literature (Mention at least 2 previous studies on your topic. You should mention the aim of each study and the findings of each study[unique_solution] Methodology Materials / Tools Data Analysis (including snapshots) Results & Discussion Conclusion Summary Limitations Implications/Recommendations for further research References Appendix (snapshots of your data which is excluded from the word count) * Remarks Include…
Benefits for First Time Offenders Mandatory sentencing that has existed in this country since the 1970s has brought more damage than benefits. The population of the inmate has increased intensively, propelling prison cost to bankrupt stages, while less impact on the crime being reported. First-time offenders who might have needed a second chance are right off and introduced into a life that forces them back to crime. The development of programs that prevent incarceration of first-time offenders could be helpful in rehabilitation and to avoid repeat crime, while at the same time reduce over-crowding in prison (LaMance, 2019). Such programs could be focused on providing an enabling environment for first-time offenders to be able to learn, improve, and grow in a way that makes them useful members of the public (LaMance, 2019). New Jersey lawmakers should propose legislative acts in favor of first-time offenders because it will decrease the rate of recidivism, allow offenders to further their education, and stop first time offenders from being discriminated against. The development of programs that prevent incarceration of first-time offenders reduces recidivism, especially…
