Gyn/affection Discrimination is an ever-present threat to gyn. “Gyn/affection” is a term that has been used to refer to the strong yet complex relationships between females (Raymond, n.d). My research on the claim has been done through readings such as Libra Bray’s “Beauty Queens” and my previous essay on female friendship narratives. Female friendships have widely been regarded, by females and males alike, to be the most open, honest, relationships in existence. The notion, to some extent, is true, as women have developed a sense of oneness with each other over the years due to the similar challenges that they all face in society. Discrimination, objectification, assault are only some of the multitudes of societal obstacles that women have had to encounter to enable them to fit in a society that holds men to a much higher regard, without proper reasons as to why. The shared struggles have brought up, within themselves, a bond strong enough to enable them to fight for their rights in an increasingly unfair world, and possibly acquire equal recognition as men in the current world.…
Arm Reduction The two political cartoons below take distinctly different views of détente. Do they both make valid points? Was it a good idea for the US to negotiate arms reductions treaties with the Soviets? Was it a good idea for the Soviets? Do these issues affect Russian relationships with other countries today? (Do not focus on the last question only; provide and discuss the historical basis.) While the intention behind the arms reduction treaties was good for the US, it proved to be excessively complicated, expensive, and cumbersome. Since soviet had hundreds of missiles against the US, the talk released some tension for a short while. Some of the benefits of treatment are that were achieved included the exchange of data regarding the strategic weapons as well as associated facilities (Leonard, Udoudom, & Bassey, 2019). The inspection was conducted to verify data on the technical features or characters of strategic missile s well as the implementation of the provision on test launches and telemetry exchanges. However, the US did not benefit from this effort because the military weapons had…
Leader-Member Exchange Theory Discussion The leader-member exchange theory (LMX) is a type of leadership that is keen on establishing and maintaining working relationships between the leader and the followers. It focuses on working in close collaboration with the followers by engaging them in every step of administration and decision making (Day & Miscenko, 2016). It is for this reason that it is termed as a relationship-based approach to leadership because it is premised on a solid bond between the leader and the followers: a condition referred to the as dyadic relationship. It is worth noting that dyadic ties and friendship are distinguishable based on several factors. First, whereas dyadic relationship is a formal engagement between a leader and the subjects in which both parties must execute, friendship maybe informal, for instance, the friendship of a child to the parents where the child has no obligation to the parents, besides, it is imperative to mention that all dyadic relationships are premised on mutual benefits where the leaders enjoy true servanthood while follower expect rewards following their submission and allegiance. On…
Initial Thoughts Literary work takes various forms, where the author has to integrate them into their work to make it more appealing to the general public. Language, image and other types are both significant in creating a visual impression of an element in the community and that the public is directed or driven in a particular direction with or without their concern and understanding. In this regard, the various authors have exercised their literary rights by integrating multiple forms of art to pass the message to the community regarding their past life events and its relations to both the present and future lives. Therefore, the detailed discussion outlines how these authors have employed the use of language, visual content, and sound in communicating with the community. As evident in Nostalgia by Katelyn Peters, the author creates an image of their immense relationship and friendship with his old friends whom they once failed with their bikes and developed a scar that never ends. The scar reminded him of the most significant moment of their lives a long time ago. The sounds…
Trauma Everything in life that brings human un-comfortability is a candidate for causing resilience in humans. Resilience is a process of adapting and the continual change capacity of a person to social-ecological systems. The process of adaptation, healing, and recovery from a set of problems. Some of the people show transient and minor disruption. This is what is referred to as resilient. Others show loss, trauma, and distress, which lead to a state of resilient known as pathological (Bonanno, 2008). Many are the times when people face different challenging situations, and they have to pass through them. How they react to the situation at hand is what matters the most since it helps in the healing process. Some people take longer to recover while some take very little time to recover. Resilience differs from one person to another, depending on how the individual views things. Flexibility, tolerance, buffering capacity, and margin influences the way someone adapts to a situation of disturbance. Trauma is the first thing that one receives after failure, fall or events that were unexpected. Trauma causes a…
Cultural Relativism Cultural relativisms entail three distinct, but related philosophical positions. The philosophers who support these arguments show the existence of an all-encompassing and irresolvable moral disagreement between people and their traditions. In this case, it is possible to evaluate a particular belief as true or false relative to a specific culture of the set of moral standards. These thoughts lead to the conclusion that people should tolerate religions held by their peers. Although cultural relativism makes valid claims on the possibility of objective moral truth, this theory exaggerates the degree of diversity among cultures and promotes the establishment of brutal customs. Cultural relativism opposes the existence of objective truth in ethics. Cultural relativists give accounts of different cultures like Greeks, Galatians, and Eskimos, to conclude that ethical standards vary from one culture to the other (Bush, 2016, p. 2). One community holds some values that appear wrong in others. The suppositions show the difficulty of having universal ethical ways of living. The Greeks believed that eating the dead was an unethical practice, which contradicted the customs held by the…
Physical development in early adulthood Question 1 Physical development in early adulthood is characterized by considerable development of essential body organs. The stage marks the peak of an individual’s physiological development as the motor ability, reproductive system, lung capacity, individual strength, and other essential body parts function at their best before they start a gradual decline in the late thirties (Module 8, 2020). On the other hand, the physical development in middle adulthood takes an immense hit as individuals at this age bracket starts experiencing a strained vision, experiences immense joint pains, and struggles with weight. In most instances, middle-aged adults often experience affected vision since the lens in the eye often loses flexibility, affecting the vision of individuals immensely (Module 9, 2020). Concerning cognitive development, an individual within the young adulthood bracket often experiences post formal thoughts that are often practical, realistic, and individualistic. Again, these individuals have an immense ability to conceptualize abstract thoughts and consider possibilities and ideas in contexts they have not experienced in their lives. On the other hand, in middle adulthood, the individuals often…

Book review: Slavery Main arguments of the reading The author bases the chapter on civil war and claims that racial factors did not motivate slavery but economical. Zinn also talks about how slaves tried to resist and the various ways they used. Although they did not succeed, they still found ways of maintaining their dignity as human beings. Throughout history, historians have painted slavery as an isolated evil that was practiced in the southern states. However, Zinn states clearly state that this was not the case. On the contribution of white abolitionists, Zinn claims that black abolitionists were more involved and committed to the cause than their white allies. The author also argues that Lincoln was a skillful politician and a pragmatist, and not a heroic figure as people portrayed him to be. Main evidence He suggests that Americans created racism as a way of covering up for the brutality of African people through slavery. The slaves tried to resist to their owners with no effort. However, they used art, family, and friendship to maintain their dignity as human beings.…
The intent for The Statue of Liberty Upon going through these two articles about the Statue of Liberty, I did realize that its purpose changed over time. This is because the primary intention of the artist was to place it near the Suez Canal, then it changed to New York to be used to symbolize the spread of liberty across the globe. Since I had never studied the statue in-depth, through the articles, I learned more details that I didn’t know before. Such as this Statue of Liberty is a representation of an Egyptian Muslim lady. As a result, my perception of the statue changed. So, I currently know this statue was a symbol of immigration. I always presumed that the poem authored by Emma Lazarus was printed on the tablet that the liberty lady clutches tightly. Indeed, this read was great, and it widened my knowledge of the real significance of the statue. The artifact of choice is Mona Lisa. A query I can ask concerning it could be what intentions of the artist who made mona Lisa were…
