Verbal Communication Topic 13: Verbal Communication Based on the INSTEAD article, language shapes human expectation about the roles of females and males in society. Kesebir (2017) illustrates that language influences and reflects gender role perceptions. The author demonstrates how individuals use phrases that join two gendered words, such as “her and his.” Individuals generally do not pay caution to the language they use. However, research indicates that the way people use personal pronouns and gendered words expressed their beliefs around men and women. The nature of use also shapes how people view the social world and their place in it, as a man or a woman.  People read word order choices as cues, indicating the relevance of those described by the words. Word order also reinforces or convey beliefs about gender. According to Kesebir (2017), the topic of gendered words is essential because language can alter individuals’ viewpoints when people choose their words carefully. For instance, ordering words in one way instead of the other conjures up a certain mental model in the audience’s mind to slightly puncture an existing…

HUMAN COMMUNICATION, PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ADVERTISING Human communication is a relational mechanism in which people create meaning by exchanging verbal and nonverbal information in particular situations, shaped by personal and social factors and rooted in culture (Alberts, Nakayama, & Thomas, 2016, p. 6). Communication is a dynamic process where substantial thinking and preparation can be needed. When planning a productive conversation, one has to understand the nature of interactions, purpose, environment, participants, platforms, disruption and possible feedback. Charee desires to travel to a different nation to start her Master’s degree in the article “Human Communication,” but she thinks her father will be against it. She wanted to have face-to-face contact with him, to reassure him. Charee arranged to meet at her father’s favourite cafe in the middle of the afternoon as the venue for their discussion because her father would be more inclined to feel comfortable and in a good mood in a familiar place he liked. Second, she chose the middle of the afternoon to give them more privacy and fewer disturbances. She preferred a public environment as she…

organization leadership and decision making Week 8 Discussion The course on organization leadership and decision making was one of the most significant courses I have handled in a while. The class discussed management issues in business and how managers and other leaders can improve their business activities. The session discussed factors such as communication, which is instrumental in management and leadership. One of the topics that were interesting to me as customer relationship management. Customers are the most significant determinant of the performance of a business. With a high number of customers, companies are assured of excellent performance, and vice versa is true. That said, customers need to be managed to ensure the profitability of the business. This is the reason I want to research a tool that can assist in customer management. After week 8 of the course, I want to find out whether there is an existing tool that helps businesses manage their customers. If there is one, I want to understand how it helps the organization maximize its profit. Besides, I would want to know how I…

AI Ethics and Rights             The rapid exponential rate at which Artificial Intelligence continues to develop has cause reason to consider the effects which it would have on overall human morality, autonomy, even human intelligence. The rate at which AI continues to develop indicates that it will attain some semblance of autonomy and the ability to make independent decisions in a matter of years or less. It, therefore, becomes a valid question what the motivations behind these decisions would be, and who becomes responsible for these decisions, if catastrophes arise from these decisions. Some fundamental human rights are also placed in potential jeopardy with the continued development of Artificial Intelligence through machine learning. Amongst these are the rights to privacy, the rights to equality, and the rights to the prohibition of equality (Mantelero, 2018). It is worth deep consideration of the whole range of effects that any further development of AI would result for humankind on the moral, intellectual, and human rights and autonomy fronts.     References Mantelero, A. (2018). AI and Big Data: A blueprint for human rights,…

Seven-step Fundraising Strategy for Local Home Church Introduction Today’s financial climate is volatile. Therefore, charities, organizations and individuals must continually reassess their ability and skills to generate funding. For several organizations, particularly those reliant on donor funding and government grants, fundraising remains a significant component of getting income. Dillon (1993) and Reid, Ferrara and Karrett (2019) agree that whatever the economy is doing, the key to the successful generation of income through fundraising is a reliable and effective strategy. Fundraising pertains to creative and practice methods to raise funds for a worthy cause. The process and work involved can be rigorous and closely resemble event planning, marketing and sales. Seven-step Fundraising Strategy for Local Home Church The first step of the fundraising strategy is identifying the people to be involved in the fundraising drive. The purpose of the stage is to build a prospect list of the right individuals who are capable of providing the necessary level of funding for the work to be done (Reid, Ferrara & Karrett, 2019). The individual conducting the fundraising must determine whom to go…

Understanding The Construction of the Society The contemporary society has created an environment in which most of the information that is obtained is used in analyzing a concept. To be particular, most of the data that has been collected in the contemporary times has been used to statistically analyze events and also predict the occurrence of future events. Taking an example of the changing economy from an agriculturally based one to a business-oriented with the incorporation of advanced technology, that has contributed to the improvements of the business world. Contemporary society deals with more of the statistical data in the analysis and interpretation of data. For instance, before entering into a new market, most firms conduct an investigation that mainly involves the number of people who but the goods, the preference of the targeted audience, the amount of money that these people are willing to pay for a particular product. Through this analysis, the marketing consultants get the required data to make a conclusion and decide on the product that they will sell as well as the strategy to use…

Environmental Pollution and Climate Change Part 1 Some of the concepts that were discussed in class concerning ecological paradigms include the idea of environmental justice. Ideally, this concept is used to refer to the concept of equally distributing resources that are responsible for the betterment of the environment as well as the aspect of sharing the burdens in the environment equally in the society. It came to the attention of many researchers that many corporate firms tend to evade the charges that come with environmental pollution. Environmental justice aims to ensure that the interaction between the economy and ecology is sensual in the aspect that the benefits and the burdens of the environment are distributed equally. Similarly, the concept of conquest mentalities that have been known to cover many aspects of the environment. This idea is used to refer to the thought that nature is a resource for all humanity, and so it should meet the needs of these people. Some scholars, however, argue that the idea of conquest mentalities are used when referring to the fact that human beings…

The Link between Gender and Jealousy Abstract Mindfulness is a common trait occurring in both genders. Numerous studies have been conducted on the influence that gender has on mindfulness among individuals. Most of the studies propose that either gender has higher levels of mindfulness than the other, while others suggest a similar degree of mindfulness in both. The minimal consensus and inconclusive results regarding the subject, therefore, necessitated an additional study on mindfulness among genders. The study involved 77 participants whose levels of mindfulness were gauged through the use of 15 hypothetical scenario questions using a self –Report Mindfulness Attention Awareness scale. Male participants scored a higher average mindfulness score in comparison to their female counterparts. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two scores leading to the conclusion that gender was not a significant variable in determining mindfulness among individuals. Keywords: gender, male, female, mindfulness The Link between Gender and Mindfulness Mindfulness refers to one’s capability to be present in the moment without succumbing to distractions about past or future events. It refers to being in the…
