Field Experience Effect on Mayan Population Introduction Guatemala is located in Latin America and has the second-largest proportions of indigenous people. As documented in history, about 50% of the Guatemala population belongs to one of the 21 distinct indigenous individuals, which include Mayan and Xinca, among others. The Mayan community has the highest number of indigenous people as compared to other groups. Despite the high population, the life expectancy of this group is 13 years lower than the non-indigenous residence. According to diverse findings, maternal mortality is four times higher than in other groups. In addition, childhood stunting rate is about 50%. Numerous factors influence the high health disparities among this population. Therefore, a global health medical trip to Guatemala was considered to address these medical disparities. In Guatemala, the government provides healthcare services to all populations. This exercise is done through the ministry of health and the public health system that offers primary care vaccination to all individuals. Most advanced healthcare facilities are located in urban centers where indigenous people have inadequate access. This issue is one of the…
Donald Trump and the Politics of Immigration As a result of increased immigration into the United States, President Donald Trump came up with a policy that aimed at stopping immigration. The main idea of the policy was to minimize the number of legalized immigrants that are allowed to enter and stay in the United States. It was Trump’s main agenda to stop legal and illegal immigration before being elected as the President of the United States of America. In reaction to Trump’s plan towards immigration, the Democrats were highly critical about the policy adopted by Trump’s administration to stop immigration. This paper seeks to discuss the issues presented in President Donald Trump’s policy to stop immigration, what was the aim at the time, and its effects on African Americans and other races. One of the issues presented at the time was that the American borders were insecure, and they needed protection. The immigration policy aimed to safeguard the county’s borders from uncontrolled immigration, an influx of criminals, and dangerous drugs. A wall was proposed to be built in the border…
Sacco-Vanzetti Case Nicola Sacco and Bartolommeo Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants accused of robbery and killing two employees of the New England shoe company. The two men were charged for participating in a robbery in South Braintree in Massachusetts hat lead to the killing of Fred Parmenter and Alessandro Beradelli during a robbery as the two transported payroll boxes belonging to the New England shoe company[1]. Despite several protests from immigrants and other interest groups, Sacco and Vanzetti were sentenced to death. The judgment was widely perceived as the most brutal and more of political oppression. During the early centuries, Americans feared communism. Thus both Sacco and Vanzetti were regarded as anarchists who believed in fighting the government using unorthodox strategies to make political statements.[2] Therefore, they saw as a threat to American democracy. Sacco and Vanzetti fought for social justice; thus, their trial was more politicized. Despite the fact that several eyewitnesses testifying the most critical issues was the ballistic test done on the murder weapon that proved that they were guilty[3]. What is a Party? A political party is a structured assembly of people who have the matching philosophy, or who else have the similar party-political positions, and who field contenders for votes or elections, in an effort to get them voted and thus accomplish the party’s program or agenda. Question 1 A diverse coalition (V.O. Key) This theory entails a temporary alliance or partnering of different political parties to come together and combine their objectives to develop a coalition (Hrebenar, 2019). However, these political parties must be having similar values, interests, and goals which, when combined, conform a more reliable and powerful coalition. Strengths An alliance increases the prospects for success since they have combined power, and hence their convincing power is high and can gain more citizens during elections. A coalition escalations the impact of the political parties’ effort since being involved in an alliance portrays that many people develop a well understanding of the goals and hence campaign on your side. Again, the individual political parties’ visions and missions are broadened by this unity. Thus they form a…
Plea Deals as Alternative Dispute Resolution In the Missouri Vs. Frye case of 2012, Justice Anthony Kennedy states that “Criminal justice today is, for the most part, a system of pleas, not a system of trials.” (Viano, 2012). The sentiments by the Supreme Court justice signify the extent to which plea bargains influence the American justice system. Plea deals are a form of alternative dispute resolution that has become quite common in the criminal justice system. While America prides itself as a beacon of democracy for its adherence to the rule of law, the exponential growth of a culture of plea bargains paints a different picture (Dervan & Edkins, 2013). The prevalence of plea deals as an alternative dispute resolution technique has resulted in the conviction of numerous innocent victims. Therefore, to gauge the real effect of plea deals on the justice system, their benefits and shortcomings must be analyzed. Plea deals have become a defining feature of the federal criminal justice system in the United States. Berdejo (2018) defines plea deals as agreements between prosecutors and defendants, whereby suspects…

India’s Nationalism What is the nature of nationalism in India? For example, is it religious, linguistic, civic, ideological, or anti-colonial? Please explain as briefly as possible. Nationalism is simply a sentiment of unity that arises from the fight for freedom, shared history, common language, and conventional political ideals that could promote peace, love, and unity. Indian nationalism was developed as a concept of territorial nationalism, which is an inclusion of its entire people regardless of their diverse linguistic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Reflective Journals: Week 2 and 3 Journal on Week 2 On the lecture: What interests me from the lecture is on Asian Population and how it gave rise to colonial and post-colonial rule. Asia is on a sub-continental scale of the Eurasian continent and the archipelago, it has experienced rapid changes both in population growth, economic development, and political rise. The lecture notes that the rapid spread of its population gave rise to Local Rulers and the establishment of kingdoms across the entire Asia that, in turn, gave birth to Theocracy type of governance. As a result, Colonial powers such as the Portuguese, the Dutch, French started arriving in Asia and colonizing using different methods and tactics such as assimilation, divide-and-rule, and forceful ways. The lecture again notes that this gave rise to the introduction of Western ideologies such; Nationalism, Socialism, liberalism, and democracy, which saw the increase to an imbalance between the Asian and Western world. This situation led to the rise of the Cold War and the formation of Capitalism States. Despite all the fights and the struggles…
COMPARISON BETWEEN ROME AND CHINA EMPIRES. China’s center was far superior and more unified, physically, and ethically than Rome’s. Rome had central Italy as its center only, and even after winning Italy, it seized just that particular peninsula surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps Mountains. In the era of the Han dynasty in China and the Augustus in Rome, the Chinese and Roman empires each detained almost 60 million individuals; however, in Rome, several of these masses were in Italy (Raphals, 257). In China, almost all were in “internal China,” about 90 percent of the people in the North China Plain. As China relocated both south and north, it integrated a large number of the immigrates it attacked and ruled. Non-indigenous Chinese were absorbed ethnically and geographically. A lot of the 95 percent of present’s Chinese populace who are called “Han” is derived from descendants who were not (Bennett, Mia, and Laurence, 5980). The territory was held together by the Buddhist and Confucian philosophy, sustained by the supremacy of the ruler and his soldiers. Rome’s territory was held…
