Short paper #14 The expansion of presidential power has immensely risen since the early 20th century. According to James Patterson, there were contradictory beliefs about executive power by the founding father. The potential for expansion was high, and some of the political leaders such as Washington and Lincoln took the chance to seize this potential to enlarge the role of the office in political issues such as war and foreign affairs. The development of presidential power attributes its success to numerous factors as James explains. One of the major causes for the rise of presidential power in the 20th century was the need for a force that would unite labor and management. The other branches of the government were incapable of initiating stability in the industrialization in conjunction with war and foreign affairs. The great depression and the rise of a new electorate of immigrants and blue-collar workers were factors increasing presidential power (Patterson, 1976,39). With an increase in urbanization, the then-president Franklin Roosevelt had the privilege of support from the electorate of immigrants, and this was a boost…
The fourteen points Unlike other European Nations, the United States entered into World War I reluctantly and not for territory or revenge for the past wars. President Woodrow Wilson, however, wanted to end the war and bring peace all over the world, thus set a plan of peace. Together with his advisors, they came up with the Fourteen Points as an outline of the key elements that could restore peace hence end the War. He hoped that his speech would soften the Central Powers and end the War. The plan was not effective as the German Army intensified its attack on Western Europe. However, in ten months, the German Army appealed to Wilson’s quest after conceding and began a series of talks based on the Fourteen Points. The paper explains Wilson’s vision for the postwar world through the Fourteen Points. The Fourteen Points explained the specific goals that Woodrow wanted to achieve. Iran’s Government to Blame for Coronavirus Pandemic Arrogance and deliberate inaction disabled Iran’s authorities from controlling the coronavirus epidemic when it first broke out. When the authorities first heard of the outbreak in China, they overconfidently claimed that coronavirus would not affect Iran. In fact, so immune was Iran to coronavirus that the government bragged that Iran would export face masks to china to help the troubled state (Fassihi & Kirkpatrick 2020). The officials stated that Iran’s health facilities were well-equipped to manage any health crisis, and did not take any extra preparedness measures for the health workers or the facilities. Iran was also motivated to maintain trade ties with China and did not cancel flights to the country, as noted by Mahan Air’s continued travels to China (Kangarlou & Hincks 2020). Worse still, the travelers were not screened, and the negligence, combined with unpreparedness, caused a high death toll of almost 1000 Iranians by mid-March (Kangarlou & Hincks 2020). Of note is, Iran now has the highest cases of coronavirus in Asia besides China. The government’s activities caused an…
As We Are Now Caro was resilient to the end. Caro struggles to fit in Twin Elms, a nursing home, which is run by Harriet Hatfield. Her experiences are listed in a journal, which she keeps to stop her mind from degenerating (Sarton, 1973). Accordingly, Caro’s life is analyzed using the life course theory that focuses on changes from birth to death. The theory asserts that people’s growth and aging are socially constructed, prescriptive, and are normative. The life course framework effectively depicts the life of Caro Spencer, who defied the stereotypes associated with aging and took control of her life. Synopsis As We Are Now chronicles the life of Caro Spencer in Twin Elms. Caro is taken to the center by her brother John and his young wife, Ginny. The facility is managed by Harriet Hatfiled and is assisted by her daughter Rose (Sarton, 1973). Promotion of Marriages by the UK Government Funding marriage programs UK government support for marriages and relationships dates back in the 1940s. It is during this time that politics engaged much on marriage issues and matters concerning the marriage relationship. During the era, the attributes that surrounded traditional marriages were substantially upheld (Hyton, 2015). By then, the government showed great concern over marriage affairs by support and promotion through education and funds, though there was minimal financing (Wilson, 2006). However, in the year 2000, the government accepted the recommendations for increased funding for marriage institutions. Finances promoted education to the young people on marital matters (Van Acker, n.d). Initiation of marriage programs Initiatives such as the ‘Family Services Program’ provided education and counseling on marriages. One of the goals of such a program was to create awareness concerning marriage unions. Education egged of preventive measures for long-lasting and unbreakable relationships (Wray, 2016). In the 1990s, the Labor government increased funding for more training, and the response was positive. Almost twenty-eight thousand people out of who were married attended almost seventeen…

Israel: President to give opposition leader prerogative to form government Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said on Sunday that he had decided to give opposition leader Benny Gantz the first opportunity to form a government after the latest elections. The decision was announced after consultation with leaders of all parties elected to the Israeli Parliament. Rivlin called a meeting with Gantz and the current prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to try to break the blockade that paralyzed the country’s political system last year, which could threaten Israel’s response to the coronavirus. After the third inconclusive election in a year, a unity government may be the only way to overcome paralysis. Netanyahu’s party, Linkud, emerged from the March 2 elections as the largest individual force, but it gathered only 58 supporters in Parliament. Opponents, with a narrow majority of 61 seats, had already recommended to the president that he give Gantz the prerogative to form a government. However, these parties are also divided, which makes the formation of a coalition by the leader of the White and Blue party uncertain.…
Assignment 04 Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Assignment 04 Part A History of Capital Punishment in the United States Capital punishment is another word for the death penalty, the legal execution of a criminal. The word capital originates from the Latin word head (Constitutional Rights Foundation, 2012). In ancient times, the death penalty was carried out by beheading. However, such a form of execution has never happened in the United States. The U.S performs capital punishment either by poison gas, shooting, hanging, lethal injection, or electrocution. Currently, all states in the U.S practicing capital punishment use lethal injection (Constitutional Rights Foundation, 2012). However, they are free to use any of the other options apart from beheading. In America, the death penalty was practiced as early as in the 1600s. This form of punishment applied to even the slightest crimes, such as pickpocketing or stealing a bun in a shop (Constitutional Rights Foundation, 2012). However, in the 1700 and 1800, most states…
