Institutional Racism in “13th.” Institutional racism (alternatively known as systematic racism) describes societal structures and patterns that foist harmful or otherwise oppressive conditions on certain groups based on ethnicity or race. 13th is a one-hundred-minute documentary directed by director Ava DuVernay. The documentary highlights the numerous ways that one troubling loophole in the 13th amendment has been used to control, subdue, and annihilate communities of color through mass imprisonments and mass arrests after the civil war. The title of the documentary is derived from the 13th amendment, which many citizens in the U.S. celebrate for eradicating slavery despite one disturbing loophole that paved the way for persecution. As highlighted in the documentary, by permitting forced labor for convicted offenders, the 13th amendment enabled a piqued, resentful, and angry white society to incarcerate newly freed slaves on petty offences. And, with the progression of time, the amendment enhanced the perception of black criminality, which reverberates to date. DuVernay provides onscreen statistics that track the substantial increase of incarceration numbers in the U.S. from about 513,000 individuals in 1970 to some 2.3…
The research question for globalization This research question paper will be based on the impacts of globalization on business, the economy, society and the environment as well as the general corporate world. In this research question, I will, therefore, define the term globalization as the increasing or the interaction relationship system between people, different cultures as well as economic activities that exist in this corporate world. In short, the term globalization implies the conglomerate exchange or transfer of ideas, languages and also cultures. The impact or the behaviour of globalization has different impacts or effects from developed countries to developing countries. Therefore, globalization can be considered to have double-edged swords as it believed to effect as well as having both positive and negative impacts to all generations of the economic development, people, politically, culturally and environmentally. However, despite the benefits of globalization around the universe business and firms are now empowered as a result of global interconnections, still, there are many research questions have already risen and that can arise as a result of both economic and cultural empowerment all…
The Marxist theory of imperialism The Marxist theory of imperialism, when put in a simple definition, refers to the exchange of political favors for wealth by nations with intense political domination. Big corporations are using their vast cash reserves and political influence to manipulate the government in giving operation licenses and valuable considerations. The big corporations are known to have an undue influence over public policy, and this illegitimate power has made oversight over such companies to be next to impossible because they enjoy political protection. According to Hodge (2019), globalization has hurt the health and well being of individuals in western countries (p. 25). These effects are a result of the foods the populations take, which are being sourced outside nations and not produced locally. When food has is transported over long distances, it needs to be preserved to maintain the ‘fresh’ state, which has necessitated the use of preservatives and genetically modifying chemicals. These chemicals remove the nutrition value of the food and make them harmful for consumption. Globalization is based on the economic theory that enlarging the…
Benefits of AI Artificial intelligence is the usage of certain machines that are built with the same knowledge as human beings to perform various duties. These machines can be used to make decisions too. Artificial Intelligence has multiple benefits to an organization when it comes to projects. In the first place, AI is customarily used to help in the organizing of a project on a collective basis. Systems that are made of artificial intelligence can handle the scheduling of the project, can handle reminders, and this makes it possible to do away with human input in the project. Since artificial intelligence is capable of monitoring patters, therefore it is a recommended tool that project managers should employ to deal with their projects. Research that has been done has brought out the fact project managers typically spend a lot of time dealing with tasks to do with the administration of the projects such as updates management. The artificial intelligence tools are there to help the managers with this task, therefore, reducing the amounts of work that they would have done. It…
