Celebrity Addiction Case Study Analysis
Drug abuse affects all the members of the society including the celebrities who are well known. Addiction is a disease that does not discriminate. In the case study talks about the effects of drug abuse among celebrities who are addicted. The case of Sigmund Freud, who was an Australian celebrity in the field of neurology shows adverse health effects caused by the abuse of cocaine.
The case study about the effects of drug abuse among celebrities was interesting because it showed how drug addiction is a disease that does not discriminate. The case study talked on how Sigmund Freud who was a well-known Australian neurologist struggled with addiction to cocaine (Trimarchi, 2019). Freud was diagnosed with oral cancer that had been caused by the use of cocaine, and he underwent several surgical procedures. From this case study, one can easily learn that the use of drugs for recreational purposes causes adverse health effects to all the users regardless of the social status of the user. The case study was not clear on how Sigmund Freud started abusing cocaine. The case study was informative and interesting. However, more information needs to be added in the case study on how Sigmund’s addiction to drug abuse affected his fans as a celebrity in the field of neurology.
In summary, the case of Sigmund Freud was used to reveal the harmful health effects of abusing cocaine. Sigmund was a neurologist, and many people were aware of his skills as a neurologist. Use of cocaine made Sigmund suffer from oral cancer as depicted in the case study. The case study creates awareness on the effects of drug abuse to the members of the society. However, more information needs to be added on how Sigmund Freud cocaine addiction affected people who knew him as a great neurologist.
