cheating
Every one of us has found himself or herself cheating in different forms. The whole process starts from a first step, and with regular repeating, one finds being a cheater of all time with an experience of how to do it. This is according to Dan Ariely, who is among the leading behavioral economist at Duke in his book The Honest Truth about Dishonesty. The different forms of cheating range from sports doping, cheating on organization s and even students are cheating on exams. With any kind of cheating, it is always wise to prevent adopting the vice from that first step. This will help to be used to the lousy vice.
In my case where I was caught cheating in an exam, I must say I feel regretful of my deeds. Something came over me that I needed to pass the exam, yet I wasn’t ready for it. I needed to do it for me to score good grades that will make me graduate in a higher class and be able to seek a place on the job hunting market. Unfortunately, all never happened as I was caught in the middle of cheating on an exam. After considering the whole process, I feel that it was not suitable for my life, even after graduating. Cheating starts with a step where, with time, one becomes an all-time cheater. I regret to say this was my first step in it, and fortunately, I was stopped before I get used to it. This is needed to make sure that I will have my real grades and graduate where my efforts in college will be the one to market me outside there. And where I will be lucky to find a job, I will work and be rewarded on my honest efforts rather than cheat and be fired when caught.
At that moment, I did not really understand the seriousness and the problems that can come out of what I was doing. And if I can confess, then I can say that it happened out of what I have been seeing other students doing in the past, and most of them have even graduated. Meaning they graduated on marks that they got from cheating. I think the punishment they are getting outside there is regrettable to individuals, and they really not deserved that. I propose that there be strict rules to curb the rampant cheating experienced as it will help students to fear the consequences of breaking the rules. Again it will benefit many of us from taking that first step, which ruins it all at the end. The same rules will help us to know what is right and what is terrible and we choose what is of benefit to us only.
Since I was caught, I have not been having peace of mind, all I have been thinking are the kind words of you, my professor. They were touching, and I feel I was a fool to follow what I have been seeing other students doing or saying. I am sorry for my deeds, and at this moment, I feel I deserve the punishment you gave me. Ki took it positively as it is for my benefit. I do promise if forgiven, I will never try again to do the same, and I will be honest with whatever I will be doing in school and outside school. I will also take my time to talk to my fellow students about the consequences of cheating, be it in school or outside school. I have the feeling that most of us here in school and others outside school suffer a lot out of not being honest. Ones again I ask for your forgiveness and promise I will never repeat the same. Thank you, and I am looking forward to your forgiveness.
