childhood obesity in tHe USA

My topic of choice is childhood obesity in tHe USA. I have chosen this topic because it has been a major issue for the past years. More teen are getting into the unhealthy habits of eating fattening food, should we blame the parents, should we blame the society for not educating teens enough. I would like to explore all those aspects and give my solutions to it.

COMENTS ON ARTICLE ONE AND TWO FROM THE TEACHER

This is good information but I am searching for more. Use more references, include solutions? More photos? Also, make sure your layout is a newsletter layout. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED511367.pdf

Imagine that the Human Resources Department at your place of work has asked you to develop a wellness newsletter for your fellow employees. (If you aren’t currently employed in this type of setting, you may create one for a hypothetical workplace, your child’s school, or local community center).

I would like this newsletter to have practical application for you. Hopefully you will be able to use it to provide a wealth of information to your friends and coworkers! In order for it to be useful, I want you to think about some of the health-related concerns that affect many people today. Consider what you would create if the Human Resources Department at your place of work asked you to address one or more of these concerns using a newsletter to communicate health information.

Here are a few examples you might address.

  • How would proper nutrition improve one or more of the health problems you have identified?
  • Are your coworkers concerned about losing weight? If so, what types of things could you educate them about to improve their overall health? You may suggest ways to incorporate exercise into their daily work schedule (such as forming an office walking group). You may want to give them suggestions for packing healthier lunches, or write about recipe makeovers and how to prepare meals more nutritiously.
  • Perhaps you’d like to focus on disease prevention and talk about cancer prevention or blood pressure control. If you are writing for school-aged children, you may want to focus on topics such as childhood obesity or food allergies.[unique_solution]

Any topics related to health, wellness, and nutrition are appropriate.

Your newsletter will consist of 3 articles from subject areas that support your chosen topic. Specifically, you will research and write three separate articles based on the topic and target audience you have selected. Write your content and select graphics and/or images that support your article. Be sure to provide reference information for graphics and images you use, unless you create your own. Review the information from the Excelsior Library on APA citations (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. [PDF, File Size 37 KB] for images and charts.

The due dates for the articles will be as follows:

  • Article 1 – Due at the end of Module 2
  • Article 2 – Due at the end of Module 4
  • Article 3 – Due at the end of Module 6
  • Final newsletter containing all 3 revised articles – Due at the end of Module 7

Each article will be submitted in MS Word according to the timeline above. I will provide feedback on each article. Review this feedback, make any necessary corrections and save for submission with your final newsletter at the end of Module 7. It is important to also use my feedback in writing subsequent articles.

Guidelines for Writing Articles

Think about what topics would most interest your audience. Use a title that catches their attention. Use credible sources as outlined at the beginning of this course. Articles should be brief (approximately 200-300 words) and referenced appropriately using APA formatting.

For ideas about how to write a newsletter article, review the following web pages:

Guidelines for Developing Your Newsletter

Once you have completed all 3 articles, you will put them in a newsletter format. Your newsletter can be 4, 8, or 12 pages, depending on whether you choose to make a cover page, and the amount and size of graphics you choose to use. Your newsletter should be submitted in PDF format (though you may develop it using any program you choose including MS Word, Power Point, or Publisher).
