Climate change is happening in almost every part of the world, and it is assumed to be caused mainly by different human activities. Climate change presents severe threats to people and nature in current days and even in the future. Without taking any precautionary measures as soon as possible, the global temperatures might rise beyond the normal levels and could go beyond 4 degrees Celsius above the required levels. Some catastrophic impacts might also characterize such changes. Global warming and climate change have intense implications for birdlife international conversation approaches and priorities. Climate change often affects the distribution and populations of species and natural world provision of services and goods such as clean water, fuel, and food. Majority of people are moving from different parts of the world fleeing poverty, corruption, and violence. But despite this being the case, climate change is emerging out as an indirect and direct driver for the majority of the migration that complicates vulnerabilities. Unpredictable rainfall, persistent drought, and fluctuating temperatures have reduced crop production in the best part of the world. Most of the administration or the governments in position are denying the reality that climate changes have been taking place and taking a hard line towards migration. A good example that portrays this is the Trump administration that, for years, has shown an unwillingness to address the leading causes of movement in the United States of America.

All over the world, there is no existing international legal framework that has been put in place to address climate changes and environmental disasters as factors of migration. There is a lack of even a precise terminology that can effectively be used to describe people moving to other places as a result of environmental factors. During the 1957 refugee protocol and the 1951 refugee convention, there was no multilateral agreement among the head of states that tried to define refugees based on environmental disasters or severe climate changes. With such, it is therefore not clear on which ground such refugees can be handled or treated on. The available joint definitions and agreements of a refugee have provided vital protections for people running away from life-threatening circumstances. Through this, it has been almost 40 years or more since these explanations were looked into and updated. Since then, so many things have changed, and this policy needs to be looked into. Notably, increased environmental disasters and climate change are now among the leading causes of people’s migration.

The World Bank, the international organization for migration along the U.N.High Commissioner for refugees campaign for the explicit use of “climate migrant” other than the use of “environmental or climate refugee.” Specifically, when referring to this form of migration. It assumes that the use of the term “migrant” reduces the chances that would arise if at all the united nation was to think otherwise in reopening the real technical meaning of a “refugee” as it was set out by the 1967 and 1951 agreements. In the current climate, such a move could lead to water down a definition of what it means to be a refugee. Such a description would be appropriate to the global challenges of today and other days to come. Moreover, migration is a very complex subject. As a result, it is most likely that the majority of the vulnerable people will not have the chance to prove environmental and climate conditions as the main reason for migration. This would be a requirement if at all environmental disasters and climate change are to be incorporated in the existing multilateral refugee agreements. Currently, climate change outcomes are more severe than malnutrition and poverty.

Different types of climate are identified to have different related migration. That is, a separate environmental event will automatically give rise to a completely different immigration trend. For example, a migration that has been caused by sudden-onset disasters such as a wildfire, typhoons, landslides, and hurricanes is most likely to be treated as an immediate survival response. Climate change is increasing the impacts and the likelihood of environmental deprivation whose consequences are desertification, droughts, rain pattern shifts, and sea-level rise. On long-term bases, such weather degradation might lead to a mass migration to the international borders. Some decision to migrate as a result of the slow-onset disaster can be subjected by the preexisting demographic, political, and social-economic factors. Individuals who are educated, wealthy, or otherwise advantaged are most likely to have the necessary resources required to either leave the changing environment or adapt to them. As human beings, we so much wired to care. We care about our careers, loved ones, material things, and living a purposeful life. Yet all these things we mind about the most are at high risk of being affected by the climate changes. The environment and climate changes are overwhelming and causing so many problems, but with human actions as the leading cause of all these, we individually need to ask ourselves some questions. We should care for the climate as this is where the future of the planet is. People from different parts of the world are experiencing extreme heat waves, severe drought, intense rainstorms, and powerful tropical cyclones. These harsh weather conditions are destroying homes and precious natural resources. The result of this is the mass loss of both human beings and animals. The most vulnerable in society: the poor, elderly, and the children are danger of increasing air pollution and heat stress. Lastly and most importantly, we need to take care of the climate and environmental changes to control or permanently stop immigration.
