Closing Disparity Gap in LGBTQ Communities

There is a need to eliminate health disparities among the minor communities in the society that should be under public health support. There are various health outcomes among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. In-depth studies have to be done in this area, such as through the health equity promotion model to cover both their mental and physical possible health outcomes. These individuals have the risk of being in adverse health conditions, early death, and disability (NIH, 2010). These disparities are said to be on unfortunate health situations to challenged communities on a social, environmental, and economic basis in health (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2010).

The LGBT populations are under alienation, desperate and underserved because they are not on consideration sexually and in gender, and this should be on the attention to reducing the disparity gap (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). An essential step is opening an LGBT office. It will help this group so much that there will be coordination and a consistent scientific effort to solve the disparity problems. Information such as age, sex, race, ethnicity, language, or any other socioeconomic demographic data will be through it. The office has to have a laid strategy to curb problematic LGBT health issues. They have to have information on designation and implementation.

There should also be culture training for medical students and any other related fields designed in the curricula. Hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and other facilities have to be required to have this curriculum to train their professionals and the other staff. It should capture training dearth and educational based information. It is all intent on attaining an LGBT culture-based competence.

Another meaningful way is to help LGBT people get health insurance coverage. Efforts made in any country to increase health insurance cover should be inclusive of these people and would help to reduce their disparity too. It also includes the house-passed bill for LGBT health-related provisions. It can be done through the expansion of the meaning of disparity population to be inclusive of these people. The leadership hand among them being the house and senate should ensure the maintenance of these provisions to the winning bill in the congress.

The social positions within the society should be equally regarded and intersected to include inter and intergroup perspectives because individuals have different health development potentials in the life course (Spiro, 2007). It is because all individuals have guaranteed the right to good health. Environmental, community, individual-level, and structural factors should be on consideration. All resources, human agency, risks, and resiliency should be on the examination. Individual life is vital in the study of health outcomes, as many revolutions are imminent.

To sum up, the above means provide an overall overview of how to approach LGBT disparity. The society is advancing towards understanding and supporting the LGBT population. It has to be treated similarly to other societal demographic minority groups. An effort is helping in the provision of resources to them to improve and save their millions of numbers. The stated means are of help in curbing this problem in society. These people have to treat just like the others equally.
