Cognitive Psychology
Purpose
The paper seeks to analyses whether the availability of the bias from the decision made by different people can be put together from all the information obtained processed from statistical evaluation. Cognitive analysis helps to suggest a finite decision made by people from the most probable outcome. The paper further evaluates the methodologies used and the means to test the hypothesis and ending with a conclusion.
Methodology
The articles use interviewing and questionnaire method to ask questions from different people based on how they make a decision. The analysis involves sampling a group of people would represent the whole community although this is an assumption. Then the interviewer invites the interviewee at a particular venue whereby they are asked questions on how they make decisions from a given situation. The results are recorded for further evaluation and implementation of the results of the research to conclude the cognitive study.
Hypothesis
The model used in hypothesis testing in this article is called the Utility Sampling criteria. The model helps to estimate the expected utility of the potential interviewee which is determined based on their reactions. This model helps to test the hypothesis of all the full range of bias based on all the decisions made by the experiences and judgment. Then the researcher will be able to analyze the variables and conclude whether these variables affect cognitive analysis either positively or negatively. The conclusion will be made based on the degree of freedom obtained from the data. There will be an alternative hypothesis and null hypothesis labeled as H1/HO.
Conclusion
From the article, Thomas and Folk use various testing hypothesis and suggest that cognitive analysis helps in decision making (Falk Lieder, Thomas L. Griffiths, & Ming Hsu, October 16, 2017.). He suggests that human being have cognitive ability to recognize where they are and what they are doing. Many interviewees gave feedback on cognitive analysis whereby bias is tested based on decisions they make. This is to say for people to make right decisions and judge situation they should apply cognitive psychology.
