Community Health Education
Men’s health
There is a disparity when it comes to diseases affecting the human body and health issues in general. Since men tend to have difficulty when it comes to admitting that they need help, the community health nurses could come up with gender programs appropriate for men. Provision of counseling to men dealing with special needs, disability, mental health issues, and how to handle chronic diseases. The program will focus on helping men deal with family, health, and frustrations in life, and the whole community will also benefit from these services.
Senior health
Older adults desire to function independently to their full life expectancy. The normal aging process comes with dramatic changes; some have a direct impact on the physical and mental health of older adults. Registered nurses should be conversant with these changes. I will champion illness prevention interventions to deal with psychological concerns among the elderly and provide end of life resource to assist the elderly.
Family health
Family is the core of society yet very diverse. Community nurses should be able to provide psychological assistance to every member of the family to the entire community. I should be able to guide the environmental conditions under which every family in the society must function Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
population affected by disabilities
There are many types of’ disabilities, and their experiences also vary; nurses should be able to handle those born with and those who acquired disability differently. With each case of disability, I should be able to offer an evidence-based intervention to help care for PWP.
Veteran’s health
Based on the principle within the military and all people in uniformed services, seeking help is a show of weakness. After service, the norms from this field hinder many veterans from seeking medical attention despite a good number of them living with wounds. I should be able to differentiate health issues, different wars, and conflicts, provide assessment strategiesfor veterans.
Homeless population
A good number of the Homeless population requires physical health attention. Community nurses attending to this population can address this mainly based on social justice, upstream thinking, and public health interventions. Community nurses should bear in mind that this population has inadequate and scarce support hence require support when it comes to health and health care services.
Rural and migrant health
Migrants, mainly referred to as migratory and seasonal agricultural workers (MSAWs), encounter several challenges. Inadequate housing, poor working conditions, and lack of quality healthcare are the main problems they face.
I would advocate for policy that will provide mobile clinics and outreach services to combat the challenges affecting healthcare delivery in these communities. As a registered nurse, I would use a social approach to raise awareness on the risk scenarios the rural and migrant population within a given society are likely to encounter while working
Population affected by mental illness
A large number of people within a community are likely to be affected by mental illness. Most of these cases go undiagnosed and untreated; those who seek treatment need assistance in taking their medication. Nurses should be able to assist all persons living with mental illness. They should provide care, such as encouraging the mentally ill to go to AA meetings, monitor their mental health status and psychological status, and helping them to maintain a close social relationship.
Communicable Disease
There are many challenges that all practicing nurses’ face when dealing with infectious diseases, they should then be well conversant with how to handle occurrence, transmission, and control of all infectious diseases since they are likely to be affected.
