Comparison between Socrates and Confucius
Philosophers in the past were discriminated against and were not allowed to express themselves. However, some philosophers were courageous enough to speak out. Some suffered terribly and lost their lives. However, philosophers such as Socrates were ambitious, and they play a significant role up to date in comparison. Both Socrates and Confucious had a good life. A life full of courage and helped those in need. They were hardworking and wanted the best from life. Confucius was a teacher and strived hard to achieve his goals. The philosophical aspect of the two philosophers was diverging. Both of them based their objective opinion by asking questions. Socrates stated that one is worth living if you understand what you are doing. He believed that in philosophy, you could not live a life that you cannot describe well. Besides, he asked tough questions to the public in reverence to his wisdom. The argument, reasoning, and asking questions were the key strategies in philosophy. Confucius also based his philosophical aspect as the ability of a leader to serve. He stated categorically that a leader’s skills are measured by the ability to create welfare and happiness to his subjects. He was practical in this after he was offered a job of a great post, and opted to resign since he could not achieve the goal of creating welfare. Finally, it is evident that these philosophers walked the talk, and their philosophical aspect was practical.
The influence they showed was significant. Society had a keen analysis of their philosophical views even after their death. Confucius influenced the people of China. His teaching in leadership was handed over to the next generation, and the Confucian group grew. The principle of leadership governance based on ability made him known by very many people. Being a teacher, he had a significant influence on his students on virtues, especially on the leaders. Socrates shared wisdom with the society, and the act of asking many questions to other people had an impact. His aspect of categorically stating that understanding valued was based on reasoning, argument, and asking questions was embraced. In the present day, most philosophers do what Socrates did. His ability to support his ideas made philosophical ideas practical.
