Comparison of natural and anthropogenic climatic changes

Introduction

Global warming refers to the increment in the level of temperature on the earth surface. In last 100 years, there has been a rise in the level of temperature based on increment in economic activities such as production leading to pollution. There have been green activities which lead to the production of more gases in the atmosphere causing more global warming (Cottrell, 2013). Climatic changes occur on earth either permanently or many last for a long period. The article seeks to compare the natural and anthropogenic climatic changes, take the position or whether or not global warming is taking place, give mitigations to global warming and also discuss policies used to stabilize global warming.

Comparison of natural and anthropogenic climatic changes

Physical changes have contributed to global warming through the tilting of the earth around the orbit leading to the production of cycle energy. These energy rises which causes the temperatures to rise above the normal. There are natural ways in which the oceans have a cooling and warming cycles which alter the temperatures. There are physical volcanic activities whereby the rocks may divide naturally leading to the formation of valleys and ranges. As a result, there is the formation of lowland and highland whereby the temperatures vary. Ice ages have also been changing naturally, and in the modern eyes they have melted and reduced in size. This is also another factor which leads to rising in global warming as time goes. The glacial advances especially form the 19th century is also a natural climatic change which contributes to global warming. This is because the glacier ice is capable of breaking and air gets into them.

This means that the temperature may rise depending on the size of the glacier ice cubes. Colossal ice block may have high temperature compared to small ice blocks Anthropogenic climatic changes are as a result of human-induced activities. This is achieved when there is burning of fuel fossils which release aerosols leading to alteration of agriculture (Covey, 2015). Other activities such as deforestation have been soil erosion on the earth service. There is also drainage on valleys which may cause alteration of the climatic condition. Deforestation leads to fewer chances of rain which means opportunities of cold temperature is limited leading to more global warming. The gasses released from production sites leads to accumulation of carbon dioxide which traps heat and induce global warming. Changes which results in anthropogenic climatic changes are the rise in temperature, melting ice sheets and changes in the glacier. There is also the rise in the sea level from events like hurricanes and oceans acidification making the ocean to rise. The acidification is caused by human activities such as using machines to pump water in seed form the river. Thus, some petrol may spill on the river or lake generating more heat.

Taking position to support whether global warming is taking place

Yes, global warming is indeed taking place due to the evidence of the increase in the level of temperatures. Research indicates that in the last 650,000 years ago, the temperatures were -399^o Celsius. This indicates that the earth is heating and global warming is taking place. Another point which support that global warming is taking place is the rise in greenhouses which produces more gases leading to the release of aerosols. This product causes more heat on earth surface leading to rising in temperatures.

Another evidence of global warming is the rise deforestation activities in many parts of the world which has led to a shortage of rain (David, 2017). The separation of ranges and mountain after an eruption of the glacier also lead to heating on the earth surface, and these are events which we have observed. Thus global warming is taking place as the time goes which is risky for human survival and mitigations should be seeking to curb the human-induced methods that cause global warming.

Mitigations

Carbon taxing

This is a measure which can help to reduce the chances of pollution due to heavy taxation. All the company producing and releasing carbon into the atmosphere should be taxed to deter people from emitting toxic gases. This mitigation is not much practical as people would still provide regardless of the fines as this is a mean to earn a living. However, the amount of emission would be reduced as some people would get discouraged and find other ways to earn a living. The costs of this mitigation are not high as the government would obtain taxes and use this money to make other developments. The policy implication may not be entirely implemented due to hostility from people and corruption leading less efficiency.

Clean coal technology

This mitigation is costly as it will require the company to use the pure coal instead of the outdated one which causes pollution. The clean coal technology is expensive to install thus most countries especially the developing ones may not afford. The measure would therefore not be sufficiently efficient which may cause less improvement on mitigations to curb global warming on earth.

Suggested policies to stabilize climatic conditions

The use of taxation policy on all the industry which releases carbon dioxide on the environment which leads to global warming should be enhanced. This is to say that the implementation of this plan would deter companies form more releases of the gas since the taxation would depend on emission. Asian country and Australia is likely to be affected by the system in that there is much realize of fuels from the production industries.

Another policy would be all companies with significant production to be using clean coal technology during the manufacturing session. This would prevent emissions of toxic gasses which causes more heating.

Cutting down of trees should be fine, and in case one cut down one tree he/she should plant another one. This can help to reduce chances of deforestation which leave the earth open and causing more heating. The policy should be implemented in developing countries where people are cutting down trees for charcoal. The plan will help to reduce soil erosion and also increase chances of raining thus preventing hunger from global warming. This system will also prevent more flooding due to lack of trees and erosion which destroys properties and other people losses lives.

Encouraging people all over the world to improve on agriculture and farming activities and thus have other means of earning a living instead of producing in chemical industries. The idea of going green will help in the protection of the forest and eliminate the deforestation which is as a result of ignorance, The attendance if the greenhouse will help one to achieve the goal after the reduction of wastage in the landfills (Seref, 2016). The person will attain the knowledge of organic cotton and can implement the same at home which will help in raising some cash for survival. Going green can help someone to apply the issue of renewable of resources which can be used to make other necessary materials. The same can be used for the production of electricity in the home and overall country which helps in advancement in the use of technology. The same will assist in the production of other materials by the use of electricity which increases the capacity of renewable energy in the sources of pollution.

In conclusion, global warming has been on the rise in the last 100 years. This is due to both natural and human-induced climatic changes. Some mitigation can be used to curb the climatic conditions such as carbon taxation and use of clean coal technology. There can also be the implementation of policies to help in reducing chances of global warming.
