Computer Science

Being a passionate engineer, Computer Science grew to be my specific area of interest. When I started participating in projects in my college in the field of Electronics and Communication, which is my field of graduation, there were some aspects that required the knowledge of Computer Science. This was when I was introduced to the basics of computer science. During later stages of my BE, I was completely inclined towards computer science and did most of my projects and seminars in context with the same.

The usefulness of Computer Science in technology in the real world and the fact that I could implement what I studied into various projects I did (be it Image processing, IoT), which made life simpler, drew me closer to the subject. When I started working, I understood the true potential of computer science. Concepts and technologies like Data Science, Artificial intelligence, image processing, and technologies combined with analytics not only solved complex business problems but also drew me closer and closer to its capabilities. With the whole world moving towards a digital era, I would want to help with the transformation.

Thus, I would like to broaden my knowledge in the field of CS, which has an endless potential. I think that the knowledge that I have is limited, even with this limited knowledge, I’m able to solve complex muddy business problems. With more exposure, I would assume the potential to be endless. I would like to ultimately utilize this to make the world a better place to live.

Network analysis and image processing have been some of my most rewarding classes from college. The Network Analysis class and the assignments which I took in my 2nd year helped me to solve the final piece of the puzzle in my final year project – “Braille Box: A Smart newsreader using raspberry pi.” There was a stage in the project where everything came to solving the structure of the circuit, the basics which were taught in the network analysis and assignments helped us to clearly identify the problem and proved to be fruitful in completing the project.

The Image processing class helped me to understand in-depth and more clearly the project which I had done before taking the class. This helped me to get answers to all my questions, without which it would have been really difficult to wrap my head around it.

I completed my graduation from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore, with a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an aggregate of 64.8%. The various technical skills I acquired included the study of Operating Systems, including Windows, LINUX, a firm knowledge of multiple Programming Languages like Java, Python, R, SQL, Cypher, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Py-Spark and Scala. I also studied various database platforms like Hive, Impala, Neo4j, and MySQL along with learning the use of various tools, including Tableau, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Elastic Stack, MATLAB, Talend and Informatic.

Along with my final year project on “Braille Box: A Smart newsreader using raspberry pi,” I also presented a paper on the same in the IJMECE journal ( link). There was a number of workshops and seminars that I attended and conducted, which intensified the inclination towards CS. My other projects were based on Text recognition using image processing and Line follower robot using Arduino uno.

I attended a robotics workshop conducted by IIT-D along with a workshop on image processing. I was also able to conduct a workshop on “Python” programming language. I presented seminars on topics “Fuzzy logic” and ” Big Data.”

Working as a Data Analyst for the Digital Analytics team of 84th Fortune 500 bank, I worked in an environment involving post-campaign analysis and advanced analytical projects. My roles here were pretty comprehensive. I was required to interact with the clients and understand what necessary changes are to be made to the Tableau dashboards and create new dashboards in Tableau to report various other metrics across different campaigns on a daily cadence.

I developed and presented a Graph database using Neo-4j, demonstrating the capabilities of Mu-Sigma in the field of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) as a POV (Point of View) to the CDO (Chief Data Officer) of the bank. The Demo proved to be an essential factor in the proposal, which was recognized by my company, and I received a spot award as a result. Along with these roles, I was also involved in giving technical training and elucidating the new joiners of the team about the business aspect.

I was able to contribute to several projects in my field of work. I built a statistical forecasting model that predicted the sales for a retail giant. This helped the client to estimate more accurately and understand the key factors driving the sales of the company. I also developed a restaurant aggregator web-app similar to “Zomato” using HTML and JS as a part of an in house project. This was mainly used as assessment criteria.

Right from my college years, I have participated in several extra-curricular activities other than my academic inclinations. I’m an automotive enthusiast. I have attended several events like Vroom and take a deep interest here. As a Hobby, I help small businesses in having a digital footprint by implementing the knowledge I have. I was a member of the IEEE committee in my college, where I was actively involved in organizing various events and seminars. I was also a part of the college fest organizing core committee, where we successfully organized the fest for two consecutive years. Other than these, I have bagged the second prize in the time trial event in the state-level roller skating competition in 2007.

My volunteer work is reflected in my work with an NGO called “Go Green Go Cycling,” which encourages bicycling within city limits and in turn, saves all kinds of natural resources that have been contributing to GLOBAL-WARMING.

With my work experience and skillset in the domain, I have learned a lot in the past years. My short term carrier plan is to gain as much knowledge as I can in my field of specialization. I would want to reach a position where I have a stronghold on my areas of expertise. My long term plan would be to make use of all the knowledge that I will have gained to do something of my own in my motherland so that I can share my knowledge with others and help in developing India in this domain.

Thus, I would like to pursue a Master’s in ___________________ form __________________ University with ________________ as my fields of special interest. By pursuing a graduate degree, I would be able to learn the things which I’m interested in and expand my knowledge bandwidth to hone my skills in a simulative environment. The most important thing is that there is no end in learning, and I would like to stick by that motto while proceeding with my higher studies. I would be heartily grateful for this profound opportunity.
