Concert Report 4
On 20 March 2020, at 12:00 pm -3:00 pm, I was privileged to attend a concert at the Edmonds center for the arts in Northern Seattle performed by cascades symphony orchestra by conductor Michael Mevaposky in honor of Rick Steve’s Europe Symphonic journey. The performance was welcome with lots of extolling and passion.
The Edmonds Center for the arts (EAC) is a 700-seat performing arts venue located on the campus of the original Edmonds High School, just 20 minutes north of Seattle. It was first constructed in 1939, renovated, and reopened later in 2006 as a state-of-the-art performance hall. The non-profit organization hired by the city of Edmonds Public Facilities District manages the facility. Each season, EAC curates a performing arts and concert series of approximately thirty artists. Besides, EAC provides outreach programs and arts education for seniors and children.
On the other hand, it serves as a home for more than one hundred and thirty produced events by regional and local performing arts organizations, and community partners. The audience that attended the concert was ranging from 20-50 years of age as many are lovers of Rickie Steve, so they came to learn more about his musical talents. And different musical instruments used in his live performances. During the presentations, I noted that the Majority have just been hearing of Rickie Steve. Still, they now wanted to see him physically, listen to his incredible performance, and enjoy his live performance. Others came because they wanted to chat with their friends as they are not much into music; seemingly, they enjoy the serene environment of The Edmonds center for the arts.
Rick Steve is an American travel writer, author, television personality, and activist born in May 1955 in Barstow, California, United States. His travel philosophy encourages exploring less-touristic areas of destination and becomes immersed in the local people’s way of life. He has been able to host Rick Steve’s Europe since 2000, a travel series on public televisions. Besides, he has a public radio travel radio show known as Travel with Rick Steve’s from 2005 to present, which has authored copious tour guides. He became a syndicated tabloid columnist in 2006, and in 2010 his corporation liberated a mobile phone application called “Rick Steve’s Audio Europe,” containing self-guided walking excursions, as well as geographical information.
There was a meticulous soloist who was present, and his performance was on point. The concert aroused me when the performance it kicks off with a slow tempo from the start to the end. The texture of the song carried me away by the melodies in the musical instruments that add the beautiful sound to the recording as well as I heard the very low basses that combine the rich tone to the record. The tempo was slow at the start but changes to allegro towards the end of the performance. The instruments were loud enough, and there were lots of vibratos, producing an exciting timbre that is very vivid and allows expressing the sensation of the song powerfully. The texture of this song is homophonic as the instrumental accompaniments work together throughout the performance.
Overall, I truly enjoyed the concert by Rick Steve’s in the Edmonds Center for arts in Northern Seattle, and I feel that I have a greater understanding of music in general ever since I enrolled in this class to date. I figured out his talent, and I feel much more comfortable being able to analyze different pieces of musical concerts, as compared to the start of this class and the finish of the same level. And I look forward to attending several other shows soon after the Coronavirus is m so that I can develop more passion for music.
