Concert Report: Sammy Miller and the congregation

Sammy Miller and the congregation concert titled leaving Egypt was held in the Campbell hall on Thursday, the 13^th of February this year. The show began by 8 pm as it was recorded in the program. The hall was filled, and many other people could not get seats and had to stand through most of the concert. Most people in the audience dressed casually, and this implied that it was a casual occasion. The performers, Sammy Miller and the crew, did not also wear uniforms, and this created a free mood that put people in high spirits. As much as I found it weird, I noticed that the majority of the concert attendees were the men. The ration of men to women was two to one. Even so, I am sure that the women who had not attended the concert would have enjoyed it either way. The setting of the hall was neat, organized and expressive from the deco that was put on stage, and this gave it a theme.

The opening part of the concert was a welcome note that was done mainly on instruments. This opening part was featured with instrumentals. The sound of the drums could be heard from where I sat, and one could not help it notice the blending in of the trombone, saxophone and piano since it gave a soul-soothing melody that created an impression on the crowd as one could hear the exclaim. The guitar was introduced towards the end of the opening performance when the individual artists were introducing themselves to the audience. From the intonation of these musicians, it was evident that they are passionate about music, and they love sharing to the audience who were so psyched.  This part of the concert was done through singing, which was done by Sammy Miller, and the blending of the guitar, the drums and the saxophone could be heard in the background on a low sound. The melodies were enticing to the ear and artistically developed. The melody would begin with a slow pace and gradually rise, and the drums were projecting more. The performance was, however, interrupted by artists talking to the audience in several instances of the first performance.

The second part of the performance was the liveliest one. The focus on the instrumentals was terrific as the performance played with a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction. The distance from the audience and the stage were short, and one could see the facial expression as they played the instruments. The instrumentals made the room musically enriched since it has a tall ceiling, contributing to the echo that enhanced the musicality of the second part of the performance. Most of the concert was musically and creatively conveyed, however, did not leave the satisfaction of a sonata. The second phase yet, was the most intriguing part as the musicians put their heart and energy in the performance. Contrary to the expectations of the audience gauging from the first part of the performance, it was a total surprise. The energy injected in this part was extraordinary, and this created an excellent finishing power. Miller, the vocalist, articulated the words correctly, and his projection above the instruments was terrific. The blending of the sounds produced by these instruments as well as the facial expressions worn by these artists was eventful, and this made people enjoy. The whole concert took two hours, and a person could barely notice since the performance had taken over people completely. Most parts of the performance were enjoyable, and I believe I am speaking on behalf of many of us who enjoyed the concert.
