Context of Evil
Understanding evil has been a problem in various contexts. People don’t understand what to qualify as evil and the course of eve. On most occasions, authors have linked evil to some supernatural power or some mythical stories. In the book of Job, the Bible makes usbelieve that evil is out of our mistakes. When we read the book of Job, we are prepared to think that when we do wrong, we are bound to suffer. Therefore evil and suffering are seen to be resulting out of our disobedience. However, there is confusion when we read the Bible to understand evil. In the book of Job, we encounter God as all-loving and caring. That leaves us with a question to ask. If God was that loving and caring, why then did he allow such suffering? According to the book of Job, evil is not mythical or originating from a supernatural force.
Evil is regarded as a situation or action that has a horrific or shocking feeling. It is did not considered to be originating from a supernatural situation. Evil is, therefore, any situation that resultsin a terrible and shocking feeling. Evil is considered to be any act that is breathtaking and horrible, or any act done out of malice. Evil can also exist if suffering inflicted on an individual in excess. Evil can also be an act that is beyond human understanding in a community (Stone, 2009). It, therefore, means that evil does must not originate from a supernatural force. Evil deeds may include rape, serial murder, and mass murder. It can also include torture or kidnap done to a child or murder done out of malice. Therefore, even though in the Bible, Satan is depicted as the author of evil. The decision is with the human being either do evil or not. In the Bible, the book of Luke, Satan, was seen to be convincing Jesus to commit evil. Jesus did not accept to tempt his God, and therefore he was free from evil.
Evil is known to be committed by psychopathic people. Psychopathic person is one who does not care about his actions (Ronson, 2011).They often have poor judgment and are not ready to learn from their experience. They often depict motiveless and antisocial behaviors and lack insight. They tend to have a limited interpersonal relationship and does not follow any life plan. Such psychopathy people often commit a murder that is considered evil.Three types of madder relate to evil. One is known as mass madder, where one kills a series of people within a short time in a single place. Spree murder is the second type of murder where one kills a set of people in different locations for an extended period. The third type of murder is known as a serial murder that occurs when one kills a series of people for an extended period over sexual desires. Throughout history, there have been psychopathic people who committed severe evils. They include Gillies de Rais, who killed more than 140 peasant boys in the 15th century, and Holmes, who claimed to have killed 29 people, most of them being women. Others include Thomas Neill, who killed who is known to be a serial killer in the United States and Canada. Therefore, evil mostly results from psychopathic people.
In the book of Job, Understanding God and evil may be complex. God becomes a special being that cannot just be understood through reward and punishment. God can leave evil things to happen to his people not to punish them but to prove to the devil that he is the creator. He is the one who blesses human beings. In the book of Job, God has blessed Job with much wealth. However, he allows Satan to frustrate Job by taking away his children and wealth not to punish him but to prove to Satan that he is the creator of all beings. Therefore, we cannot conclude that evil originates from God. It is something that comes out of human behavior. However, in some situations, evil can be inborn. For instance, there are some of those who are born psychopathic people having antisocial traits. Such individuals, in most cases, end up committing evil things in society. Therefore, sometimes psychopathy may be transmitted genetically.
However,on most occasions,it is a character that is developed out of the experience. Friends may model the character of an individual, making him commit evil things. Eventually, the character of such people changes, and they become killer in the streets. Most evil doors who kill people in streets or commit horrific and shocking things were never born psychopathic (Ronson, 2011). Some of them have gone through hard experiences, making them to such horrific practices.
