Could the Civil War have been avoided?

The civil war could have been avoided. There are various changes that America had to stop the civil. One is to eliminate Lincoln as the president since he was one of the key causes of the war. In the view of most scholars, he was seen to favor the Northern states and, on the other hand, had little support from the Southern States. To resolve the problem, it would have been wise to impeach President Lincoln and replace him with a one who cared less about the Confederate States (Hill, n.p). Another cause of the war was slavery; the southern states upheld slavery, while the Northern states were strong condemners of slavery. Resistance would have been impossible if the two approached anti-slavery in unison.

A war nearly broke due to mismanagement of the expansion of the United States’ pacific. The Adams treaty led to the American-Mexican war and Texas revolution due to the unnecessary renouncement claim to Texas. The issue could have been resolved by engaging all the parties into a discussion rather than getting into the war. Discussions and meetings could have devised a way to reunite the conflicting parties and also deliberate on the way forward. Such meetings usually end in a mature manner, with all parties contented with what has been deliberated. Also, one party compromising their wishes could have ended the war. The southern states had the chance to agree to abolition and forgo secession. Also, Lincoln could have agreed to abolish slavery gradually so as to avoid war.

How the concepts of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in America can be related or compared to real-world situations

The main goal of Columbus’s exploration was in search of riches, new lands exploitation, and conquer. He was determined to accumulate despite who stood his way. Columbus cared less about the indigenous people who were already living there. He used force, violence, and slavery to achieve whatever he wanted (Bartosik-Vélez, 2006). This is a reflection of the current world, more so in the political scene and social class. Looking at this concept more carefully, it relates to how the current politicians behave in the society. They use their social class to harass and maneuver their way into accumulating more riches for themselves and their families. To them, it does not matter whichever way they use, may it be violence to achieve their goals. They secure the best for themselves and leave the ordinal citizens languishing in poverty.

Columbus also converted the natives into Christians by force and killed a lot of people by introducing new diseases. He also sold a lot of Indians to Spain, where most of them died along the way. The local people were forced to harvest in his lands and dig gold (Bartosik-Vélez, 2006). His arrival in America was more of a disaster rather than joy. Similarly, the rich in society abuse the less privileged by overworking them with little pay. Currently, the rich do lesser work with higher pay while the poor are overworked and paid lesser wages. It is unfortunate that in the current world, people are killing one another for personal gain and acquire more wealth. At the end of it all, the politician’s wat to be celebrated for their contributions, but in the real sense, there is nothing to celebrate about them.
