Every business operating in different locations across the world is faced with the challenge of cross-culture. The difference between a successful and unsuccessful organization lies in the ability of the organization to manage the corporate culture aspect. Creating an organizational culture is unlike any other business endeavour. Usually, it involves creating an intangible set of indirect rule and ideas that are hard to manage. A healthy corporate culture values each employees working for a team in an organization regardless of the job duties, which do results in the organizational employees work as a cohesive team to meet the organization and their personal needs. The challenges of the creation corporate cultures are often amplified when employees work in multiple locations, but there is the tactical decision that can make an organization’s employees feel even more aligned with the vision of a company. Influential corporate culture will keep turnover rate low, productivity high and employees happy whether they are in the company’s headquarters or half the work away. This reports looks at the leadership situation of creation of the corporate culture and looks at the challenges that characterize it within Eli Lilly and company.

Eli Lilly and Company is an American pharmaceutical company with the headquarters located in Indianapolis, Indian in America. The company which has offices located in the 18 countries globally also has offices located in Kuwait and Dubai. The company was founded in 1876 by and named after Col. Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical chemist and veteran of the American civil war. Lilly is currently the largest and the most recognized manufacturer of the psychiatric and was the first company to mass-produce the vaccines for polio and insulin. With the company operating in 18 different location across the world, it has had the challenge of developing or creating a corporate culture within the various site due to the difference in the culture of the different countries where it operates. The company is one which has considerably have a challenge in the implementation of the various corporate culture element in its operation in the different countries across the world.

Since the company operate in a whole different environment or location in the Middle East, which has a relatively different culture and religion. The company has dramatically strived to develop an element of the corporate culture. The management of the organization in the two locations has developed a different measure of achieving the corporate culture. Eli Lilly and company is focusing on the element of ingraining an organizational key behaviours fabric by playing an essential role in the international aspect of learning. Dubai and Kuwait are both located in the Middle East. Each of these location are far from the USA were the mother company of Eli Lilly and company is located.  The two region have a far different culture both individual and at workplace. There are critical specific element which the company need to consider while managing the corporate culture these includes;

  1. Religion

Eli Lilly and Company is an American company. The predominant religion in USA is Christianity. However, in Dubai and Kuwait, the dominant religion is Islam while managing the cooperate culture in the organization operating in these two regions, it is crucial for the management of the two organization to consider the cultural elements of the area. The corporate culture developed in the two religion where Eli Lilly and company operate should pay closer attention to the aspect of faith. It should be a culture which does not conflict with the Islamic region and way of life. The culture in the faith should, therefore, respect the element of Islamic faith both in the working place and outside, for example, Friday is always set as a day of worship for Muslims. The corporate culture of the Eli Lilly and company both in Dubai and Kuwait should be set in a way that it allows for worshipping on this particular day.

  1. Race

An organization’s corporate culture looks into the element of competition within an organization. Since Kuwait and Dubai are metropolitan countries with different sports from all over the world, the corporate culture management within the Eli Lilly and company should pay closer attention or consideration to the competition. The development of the culture of the organization should respect and pay regard to the various elements of competition. The corporate culture within Eli Lilly and company should not be in conflict with any religion. In the development of the pharmaceutical company in the two locations, the element of communication, operation and appraisal of the employees of the organization should be done in a manner which pays closer attention to the various needs of all the multiple race. Eli Lilly and company should pay closer attention to the cultural values that surround both the genders in Kuwait and Dubai with a bid of implementing a good and robust corporate culture of the organization.

Both the two countries have their individual’s cultures. Each state has its culture concerning the organizational workplace situation and relations. Strong ties between members of the families and friend is a central element of the Kuwait customs and traditions. Special occasions such as Ramadan, aid el Fitr and the Islamic New Year are often centered on family. In addition, Kuwait is quite a fascinating country with relatively rich history and cultures and it is not quite easy to visit there with the Kuwaiti visa. For Eli Lilly and company the management of the organization need to consider all these cultural elements in the development of the corporate culture within the organization

The UAE cultures do revolve around religions of Islam and traditional Arab, culture. The influence of Islamic and Arab cultures on its architecture attire, cuisine and lifestyle as well. Dubai is known globally for different lifestyle which makes their natural culture and the people of Dubai are perceived as those with an extravagant lifestyle. This culture is different from that of Kuwait. As such a closer attention in the implementation of the corporate culture should be keen at the element of the individual’s employee’s way of life.   Since the country has one of the riches yet very distinctive culture, it is very vital for Eli Lilly and company to considered pay closer attention to the differences between these two countries. The way of operation between the two countries for the same organization should, therefore, be keen on differentiating the element of cultural difference that the two nations have. This will make it easy for the implementation of the corporate organizational culture.
