Specific Guidelines:
Demonstrate understanding of the relevant political, policy and practice challenges experienced in providing health and social care to a distinct service user group and propose an appropriate service improvement. Examples of a service user group could be those with a long term condition such as diabetes or dementia, those who are homeless or are veterans
Using a model such as SBAR may be used as a format. For example:
Situation: Identify the service user group, service area, and the current service challenge that you are looking at and why.
Background: with your service user group in mind critically analyse the relevant national and local drivers such as policies, guidance, quality documents, epidemiology and stakeholder involvement which underpin health and social care delivery.
Assessment: identify the current service provision for your selected service user group. Critically appraise quality mechanisms currently in place, evaluate the structure of resource allocation and use other relevant data to evidence why a service improvement is required.
Recommendation: propose a plan for a service improvement which addresses your practice challenge; this should reflect evidence based practice for your chosen service user group and resource implications, including the need for integrated working. Consider quality mechanisms required for demonstrating improved health outcomes.
Remember to utilise relevant literature to support your discussion of the above points.
