Also, he was recognizable in characters such as being intellectual, natural genius, and universal. These cultures, among others, are some of his qualities on one side of his identity. Additionally, he was against academic studies and cultural assumptions that were possessed. Shakespeare revealed about other cultures and how they should observe a constant change. He could contain, articulate, and negotiate binaries, which could lead to tension. Cultural structures were significant in his play by interacting with each of dimensional world. According to Shakespeare, he believed culture is a terrain with continuous struggles and subordinate groups that resist the imposition of their meanings. King Lear had no long term goals about his future. He selected his daughters to lead in terms of who loved him the most. They had to pretend to rule and gain power. Lear was also a fool to give up control over his kingdom by giving the possessions to Kent and Goneril. He believed that he did it for the goodwill of his two daughters, which was not the case. Despite having a good relationship with the daughters, he was not independent in decision making, and that is why they left him with no land, and he had lost all his property. Later Lear had to kneel and ask his daughter to offer him protection. Imagine a king kneeling to his daughter for supplication. The daughters left Lear without status, authority, and no love for him. Here it is clear that Lear was powerless and could not continue supporting himself anymore.
Lear was not principled, he did not want to see Kent anywhere around his territories, but Kent proved his false loyalty by serving him and offering advice. King Lear accepted Kent’s decision because of his commitment and good character, which remained unchanged. Goneril said that his father was an older man who demanded to be treated like a kid when he divided his kingdom, gave out the powers, and still, he expected to have authority and control it. Despite having a closer relationship with his girls, he abdicated his authority. He abandoned his right in the universe by letting them rule on his behalf. Lear forgot that royalty is born t its rank and privileges. He left his anticipated obligations, and that led to the loss of his power.
There was an evident rivalry between Lear’s daughters, which is evident when he said be pity the daughters and will divide his kingdom based on who loves him the most. Lear misjudged his daughters when he thinks they have a genuine love for him and decided the speeches offered by Reagan and Goneril. Lear was not careful when evaluating his children. He did not understand their characters and actions, and he only focused on the surface of things instead of allowing them to form their opinions. Finally, King Lear divided his kingdom the wrong way instead of letting his eldest son inherit his rule.
