Strengths

Weaknesses

1. CUNY SPS is among the oldest universities in New York City. The institution has aging facilities and buildings that require extra funds to maintain the quality of education programs
2. There has been a reduction in state funding across the United States. The lack of additional resources limits CUNY SPS in updating programs and coping with rising fixed costs.

Threats

1. The university faces a continuous reduction of state support, thus feels the need to establish new revenue streams from contemporary sources.
2. CUNY SPS confronts competition from community colleges and other universities including State University of New York (SUNY) and Columbia University

• The uncertainty of the economy presents a challenge for CUNY to maintain its quality.
