current practices in local government e-service growth concerning innovation and handing of high-quality service provision
Introduction
Governments have sought to integrate necessary measures that improve the quality of service delivery and overall understanding of government influence on business. Different researchers have sought to develop an understanding of the existing technological changes that have sought to transform business performance. The changes in technology have created a more dynamic system that improves the level of performance and management of financial information. Holgersson, Lindgren, Melin, and Axelsson (2017) focused on assessing the motivators and innovation in local government e-service development. E-services play a significant role in determining how the public sector operates as well as focus on increasing transparency of public services. Currently, the majority of public services across different governments have adopted electronic data management, which has focused on improving the level of growth, especially in the financial industry. The purpose of the article was to determine the current practices in local government e-service growth concerning innovation and handing of high-quality service provision (Holgersson et al., 2017).
Electronic service delivery has become a significant aspect of the delivery of public administrations focusing on the need to ensure a well-detailed system that can help improve service delivery across different departments. Public e-service provides emphasis on the delivery and storage of information based on technology strategies such as the internet and cloud data storage. Public service focus on improving the quality of engagement. However, there is a need to understand the changes involving the transformation of information sharing and storage present a reliable platform that enhances the use of technology (Carrasco et al., 2017). The article focused on qualitative research design, where interviews were conducted with local governments aimed at understanding the use of e-service across different government institutions. The empirical data that was used focused on seven local governments. The interviews conducted were developed based on two separate case studies of Swedish municipalities in which electronic service delivery was embraced. The data collection was based on semi-structured interviews based on a predeveloped interview guide. The interviews focused on developing themes that are essential in explaining qualitative data. The interviews were carried out based on face to face approach or through telephone when taking into consideration geographical distance and time (Holgersson et al., 2017).
The interpretive research approach played a significant role in defining the study’s development. The motives of the study included identifying meaning and reasons on how e-service is being utilized across different levels of government. Maintaining a strong influence on the quality of service delivery presents a vital outcome. The analysis of the transcribed data was based on thematic analysis. The thematic analysis offers a platform where the transcribed data is assessed with a critical focus on getting the meaning of each statement and help in the formulation of themes (Aguiar et al., 2011).
The findings from the study showed that local governments are faced with a significantly challenging context in terms of the available resources, competence, and skills. Local governments are facing divergent interests when assessing the ability to incorporate quality services based on current technological concepts. Therefore promoting e-services present the need to manage crucial information in administrative growth.
The development of the study has been structured, which makes it easier to follow the key points that have been included in the study. It is essential to implement better processes that help understand the research as well as the issue that is being investigated. The study has included a qualitative research design. Qualitative research design provides a focus on descriptive concepts in research, which improve the level of change and understanding of the experiences and perceptions of the participants in the interviews that were conducted (Xu et al., 2017).
Qualitative research methods focus on explaining the experiences and decisions that are made based on an issue that is being assessed. It helps understand important developmental aspects that are essential in improving the level of change. There is a need to define a strong change approach, which helps in creating a highly structured system that can be considered in improving the current knowledge on the issue that is being investigated (Featherman & Hajli, 2016). The use of statements in qualitative research provides the basis that helps inform decision making as well as policy development. However, the focus on the qualitative study is associated with certain limitations, including the fact that it is not possible to make statistical inferences considering that the research does not include any hypothesis. The participants have the freedom to discuss a wide array of issues making it difficult to make a robust and informed decision that defines improved outcomes.
