Curriculum development Paper
This part of the project is the unseen portion of curriculum development, but it is important. You need to be clear on the issues below in order to develop your syllabus. The project average is 8-10 pages (excluding title page and references). You are welcome to cut and paste from your previous paper revising based on my comments. All written work must be well organized, reflect analysis, use research, and relevant literature, and use APA format… Follow the outline (use headings) below:
- Define the issue or need for this curriculum or course
- This section should include an assessment of the particular content area and supported by research. You need to find research about the concepts that you would like to teach as well as research that supports teaching that will change behavior and influence outcomes.[unique_solution]
- Context
- Discuss the context for the course etc., description of population of learners. Present the background, setting, mission of institution, professional organizations that influence how you design the course, related social, political, economic etc. factors that influence the curriculum, who is involved or influenced, the extent to which people are affected by it, and anything else you think is important for the reader to understand to fully appreciate what follows. What agencies or guidelines affect what you are teaching? (AACN, NLN, professional organizations etc.). Provide research and statistics to support your claims
- Philosophy of teaching and/or Theories of Learning
- Discuss what philosophy of teaching or learning theory directs your curriculum plan.
- Use research, theories of learning, theories of education, and/or philosophy that influences your planning.
- This is not your OPINION of your philosophy etc. but based on theories that you will use to direct how you teach. This is not theories of nursing but theories about education and how people learn. (See our readings).
- Instructional strategies
This will be a brief discussion of strategies you might use with your population of learners. You will be expected to support your reasoning with research and the teaching strategies should reflect your philosophy or learning theory
