Depression & Stress-what really helps

Spiritual and physical health plays a significant role in depression.

Feelings such as worry, loss, shock and panic affect the brain on the one hand and change the biochemical processes on the other. These emotional states also disrupt the operations of the intestinal. These disruptions affect our central nervous system and mental well-being.

It’s not for nothing that when people have problems, they say: “It upsets my stomach”, “There’s something wrong with me” or “I can’t digest it”.

For the immediate effects of life’s stresses on our soul, we have been blessed Alhamdullilah with our faith.

However, we can also actively do something for the physical aspects, which will help us to restore our mental balance. The positive effects of a healthy intestine on our emotional life is only one example.

A healthy intestine makes you happy.

It dawned on me when I found out that 95% of the happiness hormone serotonin is produced in moneyintestines (!) and only about 1% in the brain.

A dysfunctional intestinal system is therefore associated with depressions.

Every 40 seconds, a person in the world kills himself. Staghfir Allah.

“Allah would make the burden light for you, for man was created weak.” (4:27)

“You are what you eat.”

This phrase is familiar to many and has a broad meaning if you look at food and relate it to our diseases.

– Conventional fruits and vegetables are vulnerable and prone to disease – isn’t it?

– Water now has to carry heavy chemical loads – isn’t it?

– The animals we eat are stressed, aggressive and sick – isn’t it?

  • 10,000 suicide deaths per year

  • 800,000 suicide deaths per year worldwide

Trials in life and faith in God

Just because you believe in God does not mean that you have fewer problems in life.

Instead, the crucial point is how you master these trials, these blows of fate:

What is my attitude towards life and its challenges?

Do I benefit from it? Can I improve and approach Allah (swta)?

Can I trust Allah (swta) and believe that He will reward me for every little tear on the last day?

“And whoever is God-fearing, He provides a way out for him and provides for him in a way He does not expect. And if anyone trusts in Allah,- for him is He His reward. Verily Allah enforces what He wills: behold, Allah has made a purpose for everything.” (65: 2-3)

“And to those who fear Allah, He will grant them relief in their affairs. That is the command from Allah, which He has sent down to you. And if anyone fears Allah,- He will take away his evil deeds and give him a worthy reward.” (65: 4-5)

The Trials of the Prophets

The prophets certainly had the strongest faith in God and the greatest trials.

The Prophet Mohammed (saws) lost his father before he was even born. At the tender age of six years, his mother died, and he became an orphan. Afterwards, his grandfather took care of him, who in turn died two years later. From the age of eight years, he lived in the care of his uncle.

The Prophet Mohammed (saws) lost his status and income at that time when he began to proclaim “There is only one God”. For weeks he had hardly anything to eat except dates and water. Of his six children, he buried five himself.

“And we will surely put you to the test with a little fear and hunger and loss of wealth, body and life and lack of fruit (which you need for a living) and bring good news to those who are patient (that, them will emerge victorious from these divine trials if they are patient and expect great reward)!

(Those who are patient) are those who, when misfortune strikes, say: We belong to God, and we return to Him. ”

They (these patients) are bestowed with blessings and mercy by their Lord and Preserver. They are the ones who found guidance. “(2: 155-157)

Solutions for depression and severe trials

One might expect that a person with this fate would have to break down and become depressed, but our prophet Mohammed (saws) was given the strength, peace and contentment directly from Allah (swta) in his heart. This is what we Muslims should strive for in moments of severe trials, through prayer and dhikr.

“And indeed, in the remembrance of Allah, hearts find true peace and contentment.” (13:28)

“Seek help in patience and prayer: for Allah is with those who are patient. (2:153)

American health research made comparisons between believers and non-believers. The result was..:

– believers suffer up to 60% less heart disease

– The suicide rate is 100% lower

– You suffer less frequently from high blood pressure

– Morality is necessary for health, especially the concrete belief in a God

Dr Benson, professor of medicine at Harvard University, concluded from his studies that no other belief than the belief in God (Allah) gives the brain peace and comfort.

Peter Findeisen, the head of the clinic for psychotherapeutic medicine in Munich, said

“Prayers strengthen the immune system.”

The AOK Berlin issued the recommendation: “He who prays does good for body and soul.”

“And we revealed from the Quran what healing and mercy is to the faithful…” (17:82)

Here you will find out what practical tips Allah (swta) has given us for our soul life to be happy and what true happiness means.

Here you can learn more about the connection between the intestines and the immune system.
