Differences between mechanical and membrane keyboards
The average user of a computer might assume that all keyboards are the same, but this is not usually the case. They might think this because they mostly use computers to write a few emails here and there.
For avid computer users and hardcore gamers, the choice of keyboards is essential and crucial. Using the correct type of keyboard is about how it feels and feedback. Having the right kind of keyboard that feels correct in your hand is essential as it improves your performance, be it in gaming or general computing.
There are two main types of keyboards- mechanical keyboards and membrane keyboards.
Mechanical keyboards use switches that are located below the keys that determine when a user has pressed a key. Most mechanical keyboards use a switch with a metal spring to pull the key back up. There is always an audible click after each stroke. Typing is faster in mechanical keyboards as it bounces back quicker than membrane keyboards
The membrane keyboard is a type of keyboard in which the keys are not separated and are covered with a soft plastic that is transparent and has minimum movement. Membrane keyboards have pressure pads instead of manual keys when pressed. The keyboard has a flat surface which has symbols that you touch. Although if you have light typing work, you may want to use the membrane keyboards.
