digital technology makes us more productive at work
Technology has seen massive advancement and progress in the recent past. Consequently, this massive development and advancement have resulted in digital technology being used in nearly every workplace. Computers, smartphones, tablets, modern cars and flashy automobiles, and other gadgets are some of the elements of digital technology. Besides, these elements and devices are found in most organizations and departments across the globe. Some of the key benefits that digital technology has brought include automation and enhanced speed and storage systems, which improve productivity. These benefits are accrued from the use of innovations like smartphones, computers, modern vehicles, machines, and other gadgets that have been invented by digital technology. Therefore, I believe digital technology makes us more productive at work.
The improved speed is one of the ways that digital technology makes us more productive at work. Digital technology has been modernizing for an extended period, and the trend is still the same today (MacDonald, 2016). Improved speed is one of the goals that tech gurus and experts aim at when modernizing and advancing digital technology. This goal has been achieved to some extent since most of the gadgets like modern computers and smartphones are now processing works at a very fast rate. Complex and difficult operations are executed at the click of an icon. Today, workers spend the least time, for instance, when doing projects with the help of computers, smartphones, and other customized gadgets like tablets. In effect, productivity goes up since workers can do many projects and tasks at high speed. For instance, sending messages and proposals, emails, and making orders and requests is done very fast with the assistance of modern gadgets like computers and smartphones.
The enhanced storage system is another aspect of digital technology that elevated productivity in workplaces. Digital technology has invented better and modern systems that are capable of storing massive information and data. Unlike in the past, today, digital technology has better storage systems like “Random Access Memory (RAM) and Read-Only Memory (ROM), which store massive data efficiently. Besides, the stored bits of data and information can be accessed or retrieved any time, but with authorization. Therefore, workers and employees have an opportunity to continue working on other data and projects without fear or storage problems (Manyika et al., 2017). New and more projects, for instance, can be tested and their results stored effectively in gadgets like computers and other customized devices in organizations. As a result, such scenarios have improved productivity through the help of digital technology.
Automation has also lead to improved productivity from the use of digital technology. Digital technology is increasingly making machines and other systems smarter in their operations, leading to higher productivity. Most of the machines that used to be operated manually, like vehicles and apparatus in companies and firms have now been automated (Goodman, 2020). An important aspect of automation is the elimination of human involvement or presence when these machines and gadgets are operating. Therefore, more human resources and extra workforce have been transferred to attend to other jobs, particularly those that are human engaging in workplaces. Hence, more workforce has been realized, which contributes to improved productivity.
In conclusion, digital technology has brought significant transformations and improvements across the globe. Today, nearly every organization in the world enjoys innovations like modern smartphones, computers, vehicles, and other gadgets that make work easy. These innovations have brought benefits like automation, improved speed, and storage systems, which are contributing factors to higher productivity. Today, most of the operations and tasks which proved to be complex and cumbersome are now executed with ease and less energy because of the digital technology. For this reason, I believe digital technology makes us more productive at work.
