Discrimination is an unjust and unfavourable treatment of different groups of people based on their race, age, religion, sex, social class and category. Ghana has created human bodies and societal institutions that ensure public participation in eradicating this vice. The most common types of discriminations in Ghana are based on sex, tribe, religion between Christians and Muslims, disability, language, tribes, sex and gender, and most commonly at workplaces. This involves hiring, earning of incentives and promotions, firing, job allocations and pay. Discrimination usually puts psychological, social and political effects on victims leading to loss of self-esteem and societal alienation.

Will all the above effects, the government of Ghana has taken several measures towards social groups of people considered to be victims of discrimination. The government of Ghana took severe steps towards gender discrimination by reserving ten parliamentary seats for women as they are usually disadvantaged during elections. Rolling out of girl child policies and scholarships schemes to support children to promote women participation in some professions is another ethical step towards ending discriminations at work. The Ghanaian government also rolled targeted out free educations and clothing to school-going children, and educational infrastructure to reduce discrimination between children from wealthy and low-income families. The government of Ghana through its regulatory measures in the constitution on labour laws, states that any person is entitled to fundamental rights and freedom to work anywhere irrespective of the discriminative based on race, tribe and gender. It protects workers against slavery, poor working conditions and forced labour.

The Ghanaian regulations require written employment contracts, hours of work, leaves, equality and remuneration matters in regards to employees. This is in regards to job discriminations involving promotion, hiring and firing of workers ensures every employee enjoys their rights.

These are societal, ethical rules that prohibit employers from asking for HIV/AIDS tests results and such diseases and unnecessary, discriminatory questions aimed at undermining self-worthiness. The government has bodies that deals with social stigmatizations such as Legal aid scheme and Ghana Aids Commission that protects and helps victims against discriminations.  Ghana Police service and domestic service and support unit is a body that detects and investigates offenders of domestic violence and charges to maintain safety and freedom of the public. Social and civil society institutions like the Human Rights Advocacy Centre that advocates for equality among the people in regards to human rights and protection against discrimination. Women in Law and Development in Africa is another body that helps in protecting women against gender-based violence and help them dig into their place in society.

In conclusion, this paper discusses different forms of discriminations in Ghana and various ethical and lawful ways against it. The Ghanaian government, through human bodies and units, and the general public put some measures to combat this type of stigmatization that sweep across all societal institutions such as marriage and employment. However, many cases of other forms are, discriminations based on age and disability is low in Ghana due to the ethical respect for old and polio-paralyzed and disabled people. These are regulations and ethical rules discussed above have been put up by the Ghanaian government and people against discrimination.
