Discussion Forum Notes and Guidelines
Discussion Forum Notes: You are working in a community as the new Advanced Nurse Practitioner. You have
been asked to teach a group of “students” about anatomy and physiology. The groups are:
- A combined class of 6thand 7th grade students or
- A combined class of juniors and seniors or
- Junior level undergraduate nursing students in a BSN program or
- Senior citizens who are auditing online nursing courses as part of a study
Discussion Forum Guidelines:
Part 1
- Complete the required readings up to and including Week 3
- Using the topic (cause of mortality and associated morbidity) that you chose in the Week 1 discussion forum, you will select the group of “students” you are going to teach about the anatomy and physiology of the topic from Week 1. You are teaching normal structure and function to the student. You have 30 minutes to teach the class with 5 minutes for questions. If you have an issue with answering the forum questions because of your topic from Week 1, please contact the instructor for assistance.
- You will post the class that you have chosen and your topic by Monday of Week 3 by 11:59PM.
- You will create your “class” by:
- Developing at least 3 and no more than 5 objectives for the class
See below for two helpful websites that will help write the objectives; use the cognitive domain verbs. Only one verb should be used per objective. Refer to the objectives from your current and past courses to get a sense of how objectives can be written.
Bloom’s Taxonomy
A Model of Learning Objectives
- Searching theinternet to find a video (from YouTube or elsewhere) to show during the class (remember, you only have 25 minutes to present).
- Post your objectives and the URL and title of the video in the body of your discussion forum. Give a very brief summary of the video and explain why you picked it, specifically, over other videos on the topic.
