Discussion in detail of personal response

Lessons learned from me

The experience enabled me to learn various ethical responsibilities of the management within an organization on a personal level. The lectures allowed me to recognize the moral dimension of every aspect of business life and my relationship with my own life. Through the discussion of approaches to ethic, it enabled me to improve my collective ethical performance. My transformative ability to investigate a variety of activities with integrity and value-centered was explored during the lesson. The learning-enabled my realize ethics is a personal and confidential issue within my conscience. This enabled me to describe any wrongdoing as an independent activity with no relation to the disobedient employees. The thought helped me learn how to bear the responsibilities of individual employee misdeeds without prejudgment. Moreover, I learned that personal ethics are not related to business management.

Essential lessons from what was learned

During the class, I learned that unethical practices take a considerable effect on businesses by destroying reputations and harming employee morale. Ethical values improve the behavior of employees, thus requires affirmed actions. The behavior influences ethics during a dilemma; it determines the right thing to be done. Additionally, the lesson steered my thinking toward developing the code of ethics within a business.

Ethical leadership is the composition of a moral person and an honest manager. Moral leaders entail a combination of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness. Leaders in an organization have the responsibility for creating a suitable environment for the employees. Business management needs to come up with moral behaviors themselves to enable the employees to copy easily. Managers need to be accountable for business operations. The ethical codes require to be stipulated for the employees to know the rules, thus minimizing ethical dilemmas adequately. Moreover, the system of ethics guides the necessary regulations undertaken within the business. There should be adequate teaching sessions for the employees to ensure better knowledge of the codes.

The best managers perform the essential task perfectly. The responsibilities include hiring good employees, setting out defined goals, recognize excellence, and finally, praise and show care for the employees. Importantly, I learned that there are several levels of core practices that are linked to moral acts. The leading practices that entail moral codes contain universal acceptance within business management. Wisdom and knowledge enable the managers to decode the provided data and turn to practical use. The acquired knowledge allows the manager to use the gained experience to solve dilemma issues. Facts and knowledge help when facing an ethical dilemma to make the right decision (Trevino & Nelson, 2014).

Self-control prevents the managers from falling into unethical temptations. The ability to act in an ethical manner requires the core value of temperance. Ethical behavior enables managers to disallow inconsistent organizational benefits. Transcendence allows the management to recognize there is something powerful than individual gains. Love and kindness is an expression that helps the management to show compassion among and between employees. Courage and integrity make managers act ethically, involving differentiating the right and wrong decisions.

Ethics and civility within the workplace are increasingly gaining demand. In daily activities, there is the observation of inconsiderate behavior in communications among employees. Lack of civility within various settings has led to ugly activities within schools, churches, workplaces, and society. Civility shows the quality of behavior with others within the workplace and community at large. It is vital for business since it determines how the industry treats the clients hence representing the quality of core values.

Moreover, the two concepts are related as ethics depends on how we act with people. Civility entails restraint, respect, and responsibility in daily life. Ethics determines how we treat each other on a regular basis. Generally, civility cultivates a civil code of decency; the small acts of civility and incivility constitute the heart of morality.

Applications of lessons acquired

I will inherently apply the learned traits in various management activities. Implementing and rewarding ethical actions by showing the employee the positive effect of their work in the business. I will actively recognize employee actions in presentations and publications while creating opportunities within the organization to behave ethically among colleagues.

I will become an excellent example for the subordinate workers to view my behavior, which are the intended codes for the business. The observation of the senior management by a subordinate to imitate the ethical practices provides a positive message within the company. I will communicate ethical expectations to resolve ethical ambiguities that are minimized by providing adequate training on the moral conduct expected. The codes shall stipulate primary core practices that the workers are expected to rely upon.

Provide teaching opportunities to the workers by setting code teaching facilities and moral code teachings. I will practice righteous acts while identifying the acceptable codes as well as address potential ethical dilemmas. I will compensate for positive moral behaviors; this will be achieved by manager appraisal that includes a stepwise evaluation of accepted righteous acts. The assessment helps get to the objectives, reward ethical practices, and punish unethical actions.

Finally, I will provide protective measures within the business, developing an acceptable platform where workers can report difficult issues. The formal mechanism allows employees to identify practices that are unacceptable within the company, thus improving the ethical quality of the business.
