- 1. Generally speaking, are you content about the current status of our local surrounding environment?
No. The reason is that not everyone has embraced or adopted environmental care in society. That has posed a threat to a safe and conducive environment for survival and better health (Krystlevermes, 2015). Waste recycling, mainly plastic materials, has faced a significant challenge currently. Unaffordable recycling services have significantly made recycling difficult for most city residents and have made many individuals abandon the practice. Wavering support is another challenge toward effective waste recycling. Depending on the workloads and personal daily burdens and factors as sizes of cities, there are more issues given priority than recycling. Lack of education is also another challenge since about 13% of the Americans engage in recycling activities (Krystlevermes, 2015). Therefore, there is no enough focus on environmental care, which is critical for a healthier society.
- Are you aware of the current policy changes taking place that involves the E.P.A.?
Since its establishment, Environmental Protection Agency has toiled to ensure effective and efficient environmental care through proper management of materials from its extraction, transportation, and its exploitation as well as engagement in recycling and reuse of the wastes (Environmental Protection Agency, 2018).
The change of the regulations by the current administration is by far controversial. That is because most of the scientists suggest that the change will create an impact on scientific goals. In contrast, the proposal behind the amendment suggests that the rules will allow more scientific research and transparency by scientists and bring in more clarity to the administration (Friedman, 2010). Furthermore, criticism from former government administration environment activists maintains that the new regulations would block the implementation of the formerly established policies and give them less focus (Friedman, 2020). That would instead lead to ignorance and abolishment of the previously formulated environmental rules, which would be vital for the safety of the environment.
- 3. Should changes in the E.P.A. be due to science or politics?
The E.P.A. regulation change needs to be of scientific reason but not of political intentions. Matters involving environmental issues are critical and need not be overlooked or used by politicians as a hoax to achieve their personal political goals. However, the regulation needs to give more opportunity and support to the environmental scientists but not restricted to work toward a safer environment for better health.
