A drug is a substance when taken alters normal body functioning. Drug abuse is the process of using a prescription for the wrong intention. The spread of drug abuse is a disaster that is affecting most countries around the globe. Various reasons cause drug addiction. Some people experiment with the drug as a recreation driven by their curiosity. The result is the person becomes an addict. At times the affected person tends to have an overdose of the drug. The excessive use of the drug is a form of drug abuse. The use of drugs for recreational should be avoided because they lead to addiction and leaves the user with impairments

Some medicines contain very high content that weakens one immune system. When a drug abuser continuously uses a drug for a while, he becomes an addict. When one gets to the addict level, it becomes tough to stay without the requirement of the drug. Some addicts spend so much on the medication as they cannot leave without it. (Robinson)Some forfeit necessities required to build the body’s immune system, such as a balanced diet. The immunity of the abuser slowly deteriorates as the drug conquers it. The results are the addict’s body lacks immune, and he is prone to any disease.

Some illnesses caused by drug abuse have no cure; they end up creating a slow death to the user. When all the body parts fail to work, the result is the user’s health deteriorates, leading to death.

The loosing of jobs. The usage of unprescribed drugs results in loss of employment to the employed. At a point where one is an addict, he tends never to lack the drug. Some addicts tend to leave work to look for the drugs. After taking the medication, their efforts in the job places are questionable. The employee is not in a position to meet the organization’s objectives. The result is the employee to be being sacked, and a person who suits the organization’s aim is employed.

The abuse of drugs causes immorality in society. Drug addicts tend to be the people that commit most offenses in the community. An addict works any way possible out, to be able to afford the drug. Students are dropping out of school. Some drug abusers are students. They tend to be school dropouts due to addiction. Most students depend on their parents for a living. Another cause of a student becoming a school dropout is after consuming the drug. One loses interest in everything; the only benefit that resists is the want for the medication all the time.

Drug abuse leads to accidents. Some accidents occur when a person is under the influence of drugs. The spread of diseases is an accident caused by a drive that comes from the drug. Some medications are injected directly into someone’s body. The sharing of needles leads to the transfer of diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Another form of accident that could result from the usage of drugs is unprotected sex that leads to the spread of sexually transmitted infections and diseases from one user to the other. (Robinson)

Legal consequences. Some of the legal effects that face a drug abuser include revocation of driver’s license, job demotion, and many more. Most employers ask for frequent drug tests from their employees. A drug-addicted employee will have his analysis proving that he is under the influence of drugs. It may result in job demotion or unemployment.

Another instance is driving under the influence of excess alcohol. The traffic police, through the help of alcohol blows, will have you arrested. It is a serious offense to drive under the influence of alcohol. The result is the driver’s driving license revoked.

Different reasons cause drug abuse and addiction. Peer pressure is one of the leading causes of drug abuse. Some of the drug addicts in the current world started using drugs because of peer influence. The result is one becomes an addict and is unable to stop using the medicine.

Depression leads to the use of drugs. When a person is depressed or stressed because of an issue, one tends to use a prescription to alter his mindset thinking. The purpose of the drug becomes something familiar whenever the person experiences stress or depression. It gets to a point where one is now addicted to the drug, and it is the only solution that helps to cope with the situation.

Low self-esteem leads to drug abuse. When a person has low esteem, one tends to use a drug to boost it. The frequent using of medicine becomes a habit that makes one an addict. It is one of the ways one joins the club of drug abusers. When one is also facing the trauma of something, and it is disturbing, the immediate solution is always a drug.

The use of some drugs is of help to our bodies. Medicinal drugs belong to a group of drugs. Medicinal drugs help to boost one’s immune system. When one is sick, through the assistance of the medicinal drugs, one gets healed. When conducting surgery, the doctors use prescribed drugs to have a successful operation for the patient. In summary, drugs have both negative and positive effects on the user. Drug addiction and abuse are controllable. Making this change will require a lot of effort and sacrifice from the addicted persons. A positive approach should be used to terminate the spread of negatively abusing drugs. The usage of a prescription for the wrong purpose is a situation that imposes danger not only to the user but to the entire globe. The government, through drug agencies, should not look at this issue as a disaster; instead, they should come up with solutions that reduce the spread of the usage.
