When Sir Roland de Boys died, Orlando was mistreated by his older brother Oliver who wanted to own everything their father left behind. On realizing this, a bitter and irritated Orlando requested Charles to fight Oliver and injure him. It happened after Rosalind with her cousin went to the Forest of Arden to look for her love Orlando. He had gone to the forest to escape his brother’s wrath.
At the time, Duke Fredrick had overthrown his brother to head the court. Rosalind was to remain with Celia, the daughter of the new Duke, and watch a wrestling competition, and it is during this match that Rosalind felt in love with Orlando after wrestling Charles. Orlando was overwhelmed by the love after he received a chain from her. They kept their affair secret from everyone else except Celia. When Duke Fredrick heard of the disappearance, he orders Oliver to search for them without fail, or else his land and property could be confiscated. Duke senior lived in the forest, and Orlando seeks refuge when he was stranded and was accepted and given food. Rosalind and Celia masquerading Ganymede and Aliena met Silvius, a shepherd who was in love with Phoebe, and they bought a cottage as they wait for Orlando to return. Rosalind promised to cure Orlando’s lovesickness if he pretends to be Ganymede so that Phoebe can fall in love with him and could teach them love lessons. Silvius rejected Phoebe, and was cruel but fell in love with Ganymede later. One day Orlando did not come back after he stumbled and saved Oliver from the hungry lioness. Oliver felt in love with Celia, who was still disguised as Aliena, the shepherdess. As time passed by, Rosalind to end this plan and announced that Ganymede would wed Phoebe hence; pledged to meet the following day for a wedding, and they all agreed. When the day came, Rosalind paraded the couples where she will marry Orlando still disguised as Ganymede, Celia and Oliver, Audrey and Touchstone, and lastly, Silvius and Phoebe, though even hidden in their names. They sought Hymen the god of marriage to officiate the ceremony at the senior Dukes residents in the Forest of Arden. The army of Duke Fredrick, who came to attack Duke senior, interrupted the celebration. However, Fredrick was convinced by a holy man to allow Duke Senior to return to the throne and assume his monastic life, and he accepted. The dancing and celebrations continued felt in love they will soon return to the royal court.
