Early Education Center
Introduction
Education is essential for everyone because it builds a foundation for a successful life. For that reason, I decided to start up an education center business. It will be a place where parents will bring their children as they attend their activities. Parents have the option of taking their children to daycare facilities, but I found an education center advantageous. It will allow the children to learn and interact with tools. Children will also interact with others hence gain skills of following instructions and sharing. The center will be located in a town close to living estates. I chose this location because it is convenient for parents as they will pick and drop their children on time. The place is also suitable as it will attract more customers hence an added advantage. The center will assist families by providing for them a place where they can leave their children as they engage in other productive activities. The children will not only get a place where they can spend their days but will also learn and get prepared to begin school life. The center will be faith-based, where collaboration will be done with the catholic church. I intend to name my school, “Smart Start.” The name will serve to motivate parents and teachers to prepare the children to be smart. After much considerations, I came up with a motto for my education center. “The Beginning of a Great Future” is the motto that will serve to encourage the people.
Operating Cost
The center is a profitable business idea that calls for a lot of capital. The cost will, however, be reduced because the center will operate on family land with established rental houses. Renovation is, however, necessary to adjust the buildings and make them ready to receive children. There is also a need to purchase equipment and materials that will aid in this renovation. Besides, the tools for learning and playing with the children will also be purchased. Buying them in bulk will earn a discount. Each child is expected to have enough tools at their disposal. In approximation, the startup cost will be around $20,000. There’s room, however, for additional charge where the maximum value expected will be $50,000. There will also be expenses required to run the business once it starts up before it begins to generate income. During this “break-even period,” the company might require donations or grants. I intend to apply for a loan from a financial institution and contributions from family members. I plan to charge parents $100 per month, which I consider pocket friendly. In the case where I’m unable to raise enough capital, I am open to the idea of fundraising where the function can be held on a public playground. The teachers and employees of the center will receive a minimum of $500 as a salary.
Personnel
It is hoped that the center will grow and accommodate more children as time goes. To begin with, the number of children expected is 300. This will require the center to have an organized way of conducting duties. I will serve as the director and will hire other staff to where one will be my assistant. Additional staff will serve in the classrooms while the others will help with cleaning and cooking, among other jobs. The plan is to employ around 17 staff members where then of them will be qualified teachers. Teachers are expected to have a college degree to equip them with the necessary skills required in handling children. The most preferred area of specialization is on childhood development. The assistant director will be required to have training in administration. The least academic qualification is high school education for the cleaners and the staff in the kitchen sector. To find my employees, I will advertise for the vacancies and opportunities in the newspaper and will hire qualified personnel to help in the recruitment process. My employees and I will agree on some values and ethics. I will create rules that will govern the activities of the center. As a leader, I will exercise my power in a democratic way where I will guide my employees. My leadership philosophy will make the employees aware of how they are expected to act.
Learning Environment
Inside the classes, there will be enough seats and tables where the children will practice. Besides, there will be playing toys, for instance, puzzles and wooden blocks, to mention a few. Whiteboards are also essential where teachers may require to illustrate instructions. The outside will have play structures that are safe for children. Many structures can be put in place to entertain and keep the children busy. Accommodation will not be provided for the employees, and they will, therefore, be required to commute daily to work. Since the center will be located close to homesteads, employees will not incur much cost on traveling. Developing houses for employees might incur extra business costs. The most preferred curriculum is Montessori, as it allows children to work at their own pace. Among the benefits of this curriculum is the ability to focus on the development of the children. It is, therefore, useful in nurturing a child’s skills. The goal is to provide the children with a comfortable stay away from their homes. The teachers and the parents will all work towards promoting the social skills of the children. Below are examples of images on how the classrooms are expected to look.
Conclusion
To sum it all, the early education center is a viable business idea that is worth considering. It is a profitable business and an excellent platform for children to obtain a good start in their education life. Parents that wish to further their education and parents that have more than one business will have their children taken care of in the right way. The experience that the children gain is essential because they are taught how to handle frustrations and to maintain healthy relationships with others. Children with the ability to understand faster can be instructed on how to help others reach an understanding level. Starting up a business requires proper preparation in terms of documentation and capital. Some financial institutions require business plans to approve loans. I hope that my business will not only be an idea but will get executed as soon as possible. I anticipate that the business will run smoothly to bring profits. As a result, the community will benefit at large, and the overall effect is the growth of the economy.
