Effect of Phobias and Obsessive-compulsive Behavior
As a phobia physiologist, I would define phobia as a type of anxiety or a mental disorder which makes a person persistent and excessive in fear of an objection or a particular situation. Irrespectively phobia can be divided into different types such as specific phobias; and social phobia. Basing on today’s society many people are facing hatred in many different ways, for example, you can find people are in fear of snakes, dogs, storms, fear of needles and others have the doubt of phones. Basing on my healthy life through the research and analysis that I have done on my study I found myself in the same situation of suffering from phobia one having a fear of some wild animals such as snakes and crocodiles. Out of this fear I find it very hard to visit the warm areas because this is where most of the time you can see snakes, I also keep away from major rivers, dams and lakes which I may have a clue that they have crocodiles.
Out this phobia, this makes me have a hatred for many domestic animals which has always affected my conformability as a person. This has changed my way of living as a person because I find it very hard to concentrate on the fieldwork maybe we have a practical class this out of the fear of being beaten by the snake. Moreover, another phobia that affects my healthy daily life is the fear to be away from somebody I love. This mostly affects my typical day of life, mainly when it comes to learning classes; it keeps me thinking of their safety or even whether they are okay. Though with time I came to identify a solution to this problem and that is concentrating in what am doing when it comes to doing any activities that may bring closer or that may remind me of the phobia. Apart from avoiding hatred by being busy in my actions, I also visited mental health sociologists who advised to take on some medications such as antidepressants and benzodiazepines. In the past few years, I have seen a significant difference in my phobia symptoms
On the other hand, we have another condition known as an obsessive-compulsive disorder which is a behaviour that is not considered abnormal. Out of my analysis and research study, the obsessive-compulsive disorder can define as excessive thoughts that lead to repetitive behaviours. It can also be characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears that lead to compulsive behaviours. In this type of mental illness, medical treatment can help, but this condition cannot be cured. Basing on this type of disease it can last for years or even a lifelong period before one can get cured. Still, out of a physiologist advisory one is required to undertake a medical diagnosis, although there aren’t any laboratory tests needed to determine the above mental health.
An example of such mental health is drawn from a person who has a behaviour of always making that everything close to him is neat and is appropriate in the way that it should, for example, making sure that everything they are using is spotlessly clean and is organized most suitably and correctly. Also, one may find others doubting evidently of whether they have closed their doors well-having fear that they may have left their apartment wide open. Reflecting on the relationship between superstitions and OCD superstition is much different; this is because it involves a belief that is considered to be supranational. In most cases, it affects a person after experiencing or having an irrational superstition, into OCD which is having excessive thoughts that are affecting a persons’ life.
