effective conflict management strategy

Introduction

Conflict management is an important undertaking in any organization, especially those with aspirations, to become competitive. Conflicts must be handled amicably because they have the potential of stagnating performance. The vice is catalyzed by disagreements associated with greed, hatred, and discrimination in diverse contexts. The companies that face the problem encounter dire consequences that include reduced performance levels and under the productivity of the staff members. Owing to the effects, managers or organizational leaders should develop an effective conflict management strategy to provide a lasting solution.

Issue 1:

As a clinical officer and a team leader, I prefer employing different technics to manage conflicts. The technics include negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. In the case of the two clinical officers who disagreed, mediation would effectively apply to help resolve the issues arising. I would call the two individuals and understand their grievances and why they fight each other. The idea is to bring them together and take them through a healing process by cooling the hostility between them.

Issue 2:

The advent of technology has made the world a global village. As a result, meeting people or sharing information is no longer difficult as before. However, a leader has to think outside the box to bring everyone on board when critical activities such as product launching are set to be undertaken. For our case, I would use another reliable social media communication channel apart from email to ensure that all the 10 staff members are present during the new product’s launch. Therefore, I would personally call all the staff members and inform them about the launch. Alternatively, I can use Whatsapp or physical messengers to pass the message.

Issue 3:

The working environment presents various situations that require proper mitigation. For instance, in the case where a nurse is unwell and cannot work, a viable alternative should be in place. Therefore, the appropriate action in dealing with the situation described is to confirm if the USA cluster meeting will take place. The confirmation is necessary because it would make no sense to travel there and find that it is canceled again. Its cancellation would pave the way for me to stand in for the sick nurse and have the two clinics operate optimally.

Issue 4:

Notably, policy changes must be communicated to customers whether they are friendly or not, especially when it involves money and the mode of payment. Since customer A has no personal assistant but abrasive, I would communicate the change firmly and boldly to the customer directly. I would approach him formally and give details about why the changes are significant. However, I would still reach customer B through her assistant. The approach used would be cordial, formal, and friendly.

Issue 5:

An embarrassing moment is likely to take place since a group of VIP customers and journalists are expected to attend an event, which its management team would probably arrive in one hour late. Therefore, since I received the call 15 minutes to the starting time of the event, I would quickly think for a risk mitigation plan that can help me lessen the embarrassment or avoid it completely. This situation definitely requires organizational flexibility, therefore I will have to delay commitments and use alternative optional strategies. For instance, I will prolong entertainments and engage the visitors in more talks that are productive so that we pass the time as we wait for the management team to arrive.

Issue 6:

I would use this opportunity to improve the clinic’s reputation by explaining our clinic’s structure, the services we provide, and whether there is a universal coverage given that the customer wants to inquire more about the clinic.

Issue 7:

To deal with the patient appropriately, the clinician may consider eliminating some of the medications, especially if their condition is improving. Secondly, the clinician may adopt the use of alternative medicine. Thirdly, the clinician can explain to the patient that the hospital’s policy does not allow systematic administration of medicine on the basis that they make them feel good. Moreover, the clinician may issue consecutive doses.

Issue 8:

What actions will you take?

Ask the nurse to stop entering the customer into the system. Then engage the customer into a conversation and ask him his reasons for inquiring about having intravenous medication.

What advice would you give to;

The customer.

I will advise him that the IV will not be of help to him at that moment.

The staff.

To be careful with the medications he administers to customers.

Issue 9:

The best solution is to turn off the infusion immediately to calm the chest complexity.

Personal Statement

A clinical operations manager is an officer with a broader mandate in a health care setting. The person coordinates operations, organizes treatment events, plans for the future, and oversees employees as they work. Other essential duties of the manager include delegation of work, monitoring of performance, allocation of tasks, and resolution of conflicts. In short, a clinical operations manager runs the day to day activities of a clinic to ensure sustainable service delivery.

From my childhood, I have always wanted to become a medical professional to deliver quality clinical services to patients. My motivation towards pursuing a career in clinical management is attributable to two factors. The first factor revolves around the suffering that my sick auntie went through due to a case described as medical negligence. I never wanted any other person to suffer the same way the auntie did until her death. Since then, I developed an interest in joining the medical profession to make a difference by improving patient management processes. The second motivation is my love for sciences since my childhood and an inadequate number of health care professionals within my community. In my childhood, I loved assisting people and offering first aid support to those who sustain injuries. This was possible because I loved sciences and could understand how the human body works faster. Besides, I wanted to be part of the health care solution in our community since only a few were in practice.

The quest to become a clinician was responsible for my hard work and determination in school from the lower levels. I passed all my exams from the primary level to high school and eventually college, where I qualified as a clinician after 4 years. Upon completion, I was hired at the local clinic as an assistant clinician in charge. I could deliver on my job easily because of the skill set I had and understanding of the health care system. Since I started, I have always worked diligently and served patients with a passion. The exemplary work has seen me receive commendations. Likewise, it has enabled me to work in different capacities over the past three years. In all the capacities, I had clear targets of what to accomplish every day. For instance, I resolved that I would not rest until all the patients who need care are handled. In cases where I could not reach, I mobilized other people to deliver.

The three years’ experience, education, and passion put me in a better position to deliver optimally as the clinical operation manager. If appointed, I will use the position to mobilize resources, plan effectively, delegate duties, form teams, and monitor work to promote performance. I will use the strategies to increase the number of patients the clinic can handle daily. I will also enhance the working attitude of the employees to enable them to serve patients without reservations. Moreover, the position would give me a perfect opportunity to fulfill my dream of improving the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of health care services. I would use the position to ensure that the death rate in the region declines and realistic preventive measures adopted to curb problems.
