Question one

The first principle is value. According to Lean, it would be essential to know the value attached to the goods and services a business produces. Customers prefer value, and, in most cases, value determines the amount of money the customer would pay. Value translates to the goods and services provided by the business, which helps in satisfying customer’s demands and specific needs. By removing waste materials, a company would be meeting the customer’s desire to provide value indirectly.

The second principle is the value stream. Refers to processes involved in the manufacturing of products to the end process where a customer will buy that specific product, and then dump it after its usage (Thurston & Ulmer, 2016).  It is vital to identify the value stream to enable an analysis of different stages that are valuable and those stages that need to be eradicated. There are stages during the analysis process that would be creating value while there are also some stages that would not be adding any significant value and need to be eradicated as soon as possible.

The third principle is the flow. Stages involved in the production processes is essential, because should there be any hindrance, the value stream will come to a stop, thus creating room for waste products. The principle of flow has the aim of creating a chain that leads to the creation of value without any form of disruption during the processes of production.

The fourth principle is to pull. Customer demand determines the production process. For instance, a customer needs to demand a specific product from the business, and after placing his or her order, it is when the production process takes place. A company, therefore, needs to be flexible to meet customer’s needs at any time.

The fifth principle is perfection.  There is a need to identify any challenges that would hamper the production process and then eliminating it to ensure perfection in the production of products. For instance, most businesses have always guaranteed that the products they produce are of excellent quality and value to attract more customers, thus enabling them to outdo their competitors.

They have emphasized the use of organic materials in the cultivation process, which preserves the natural resources in the environment. Wild animals have also been protected against any form of harm.

Green manufacturing workers have relevant skills that are important in not only preserving the surroundings but also in making sure that environmental value is restored, especially in the field of manufacturing. Green manufacturing practices have of great benefit to different businesses.
