If I had a chance to have a conversation with a person in human history, I would like to talk with a John Maynard Keynes. I idolize Keynes, and he was an economist whose thoughts and ideas changed both macro-economic practise and theory as well as government economic policies. He has significant contributions in the field of economics and the 20th century most influential economist. Keynes was born in June 1883 and died in April 1946, however most of the economic principles and though are applied by today’s economists.

I would feel privileged to have a conversation with Keynes since there are a lot of questions, I would like a clarification. He was trained in mathematics, but his thoughts and ideas in macroeconomics, particularly business cycles, made him be regarded as the father of modern macroeconomics. His school of thought and ideas are currently known as Keynesian economics. I would like to know how he managed to contribute in 1930s great depression by challenging neoclassical economics as well as the force that drove him. During his time, there were various economics thoughts and ideas, particularly from neoclassical economic, but Keynes’s thinking was extra ordinally. There were many experienced neoclassical economists during the great depression, yet his views on the 1930s great depression were far better than those of neoclassical economists.

Despite his significant contributions, I would like him to clarify that he was trained in undergraduate economics for only eight weeks. It has been said that Keynes studied for only eight weeks, which sounds crazy to me. How can someone only study for eight weeks but make a vast contribution to the broad macro-economic field?  Also, I would like to know why it is said that he treated economics as an extreme ethical judgement matter. Discussing his thoughts that people were liberated by the prosperity that made them make individual choices to enjoy their life would be my priority. Also, what made him feel that desire for money was disgusting morbidity that is handed over to a mental disease specialist.

Moreover, I would like to know the reasons as to why he failed to have trust in mental standstills and believe in second thoughts. The drive that made him have a feeling that his ideas had transient value. Also, he would be privileged to know reasons as to why Keynes wanted to disapprove accepted assumptions and habits and reconsider previous thoughts, which included his thinking. It would be essential to discuss the issue of a second thought with respect to how it influenced his personal, family, and work life. I would not shy away from discussing his belief for individual people and families and disapproving of the existence of a society. Keynes thought in individual effort, respect and fulfilment, which was the basis for his economic thoughts.

Apart from his contribution to economic, I would discuss other issues like his sexual orientation towards men and his support for women’s rights. It would be essential to know what he feels he contributed to Marie Stopes Society for Constructive Birth Control when he was the vice president. Furthermore, he would not forget to ask him about what he thinks about current laws on contraceptives, marriage and divorce, and sex education.

John Maynard Keynes is my idol whom I have read about his various work and other people’s thoughts about him.  I would be honoured to talk with him, not only about his contribution to economics but also other social issues like women’s rights. Some modern economics concepts are adopted from Keynes’s work, there are various opinions and criticisms about his work, but he is recognized as the founder of macroeconomics.
