Introduction

An environmental issue in china affects the country’s human health and biophysical environment. Increase industrialization and laxity in ecological oversight are the leading cause of these problems. These problems have been acknowledged, and various responses have been made, therefore resulting in remarkable improvement by the Chinese government. But, the reactions have mainly been blamed as inadequate (Olson, 2000).in the past, a lot has been happening regarding citizens’ activism against the government of china’s decisions that are viewed as environmentally damaging. Furthermore, the work of non-governmental forces, such as environmental lawyers, journalists, and others, has been severely affected due to the limited conduct of china’s governments’ undemocratic regime in regards to environmental policies. This paper is highlighting factors affecting china’s environmental issues.

Environmental Issues in China

Consumptions of areas greater than the areas used as farmland by desertification have remained a problem in china. Although land pollution has been dealt with in some areas, it is still spreading at a highly alarming rate over the years, as approximately 30% of the entire country’s surface is desert. Rapid growth in industrialization could always be the cause of desertification over the decades (Smil (2015). Furthermore, an increase in manufacturing has caused various forms of pollution, increasing health, and environmental problems. A lot has been done regarding the build-up of pollutant treatment and ecological regulations, which has caused improvement in some quarters. Environmental issues are also affected negatively by rising and more substantial population growth in previous decades, even though a policy of one child has been put in place to curb surge in population. People have been affected negatively by emissions from factories, and it has been found that among the number of cancer in China. Lung cancer is on the rise as compared to other forms of cancer (Liu et al., 2016), and this is due to increased emissions from these factories. Natural disasters have affected the environment in equal measures. According to Jared diamond china, environmental problems are from air pollution, soil pollution, habitat destruction, among others, and he argues that a greater extent of natural disasters in China is related to human environmental impacts.
