Environmental Pollution
The environment forms a crucial aspect of human life because that is where we find the essentials of life, such as air, food, and water. Environmental pollution has influenced the quality of life for plants and animals. It is one of the significant threats in the whole world. This is a global threat that is seen in all countries, including the third world countries, despite their development. We should treat our surroundings, like our mother. It also nurtures us. If we pollute our environment, then how will we survive? Environmental pollution is one of the most researched, discussed as well as ignored and abused by all of us in today’s age. This essay discusses environmental pollution as one of the things that I could change in the whole world when given a chance.
According to Lehmann & Joseph (2015), environmental pollution is the physical or biological contamination of the environment, which affects its normal functioning. Environmental pollution contains so many forms of infection, such as air pollution, noise pollution, and water pollution. Air, for example, can be polluted through gases release from vehicles, industries, and the burning of plastics. Water pollution has also been a challenge worldwide; a massive amount of toxic chemicals and waste is dumped into water bodies, which cause pollution making them unsuitable to support lives. Besides, insecticides and pesticides are also a source of water pollution. When it rains, these chemicals get washed and flow into water bodies near them hence causing pollution. Air pollution is the most dangerous form of air pollution that should be controlled. A biological process occurs in the air when smoke, dust, and any harmful substances enter into the atmosphere and make it difficult for living things to survive as the air becomes polluted. During daily activities, people release a massive amount of chemicals in the air; some are aware of its effects while some are ignorant about it. The impact of air pollution is alarming to the extent that there should be environmental education to all people.
Environment includes all the resources in our surroundings; due to the current human activities on the environment, I think its high time we educate and design curriculums that are based on environmental education bring awareness to situations that can make the environment a better place. The main reason we are fighting for environment conservation is to save the future of the coming generation by implementing a new curriculum on environmental education. Children should be taught about the importance of the environment they live in and how they can best take care of it. If ecological knowledge were taught a long time ago, then the earth would be a beautiful place to live.
To maintain a healthy lifestyle in future, young children should be taught earlier enough on issues of the environment so that they can grow when they are aware of its importance. Raising awareness of the responsible involvement of preschool children in their environment can guarantee health for each of them. Although children’s physical environment plays a crucial role in their development, there have been few empirical studies on the remote design of early childhood centers. When children are educated about the environment, they will have the opportunity to express themselves using techniques learned, and their emotions and feelings will be linked to nature.
Environmental education is essential to everybody to be it, children or adults. If environmental education is taken seriously by curriculum designers, it will likely teach students to understand the relationship between culture and environment. They will know the consequences of their actions on the environment and how they affect other living things. Environmental education would also cause recipients to think about how the interrelationship of all levels affects living things so that they can make the right decisions.
Educating people on the environment would also help in solving conflicts about the environment when people are taught; it would be possible to solve those environmental issues. Additionally, people would conserve their heritage because of their full understanding of it. Educating people on matters of environment would also cause people to develop stewardship ethics towards the environment. Individuals would also value the environment as something sacred.
The impacts of environmental pollution have been observed in both plants and animals. It can impact human health in many ways as the form of pollution is windless. Acid rain that is being released is a harmful chemical that affects human health. People suffer from chronic diseases and other lifetime diseases; however, they continue to indulge in activities that might cause pollution.
In conclusion, educating people about the necessity of the environment would help to control forms of environmental pollution such as air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution. When given a chance, I would change the things that pollute the environment and make our surroundings free from contamination so that it can support both plants and animals’ lives.
