Evidence-Based Practices

The integration of evidence-based practices in nursing has improved the clinical decision-making process. By definition, evidence-based practices are practices that solely relies on scientific as well as mathematical evidence that then form strong deductive and inductive arguments used during decision-making (O’Hare, T. 2020). Exercises that are not ideally evidence-based tend to originate from traditional intuitions, and the other routinely used and approved methods. These applications tend to depend on predictable outcomes as compared to scientific evidence.

Over the past decade, nurse practitioners have been active in coming up with evidence-based practices that are not incorporated into the nursing curriculum. As O’Hare (2020) outlines, the new urge to integrate new practices is informed by identified advantages. Ideally, the use of evidence-based practices has proven to facilitate knowledge transfer and the conceptualization of information. It is widely used in five distinct points such as Discovery, translation, summary, evaluation as well as the integration of nursing concept. With improved conceptualization, there is evidence of the combination of information, especially to new practicing nurses.

Another advantage that is widely accepted is the position that evidence-based practices tend to provide nurses with solid scientific research that facilitates the making of well-founded decisions. Through the conceptualization of integration of evidence-based practices, nurses are in a position to stay aware and updated about different medical procedures and protocols that are applicable during patient care..

The integration of scientifically proven ideas has also played a significant role in facilitating the incorporation of patients’ needs during the formulation of care plans. Continued understanding improves efficiency in patient handling, which in turn enhances quality-of-care (Zeitlin et al., 2016). there is evidence of improving the convalescence period upon the integration of both proven practices and cultural competency.

According to  Zeitlin et al. (2016), all these Concepts are backed by the belief that during care, patients supposed to have a voice. It conforms to the provisions of autonomy. In most part, patients believe, which inform the foundation of evidence-based practices tends to be superior. The Superior position is supported by the idea that healing should involve psychological support through the creation of a conducive environment. The right attitude towards treatment improves collaboration and, as a consequence, the quality of care. It is, therefore, imperative to consider the integration of evidence-based practices while handling patients who, in most part, are fully conscious of the environment.

These practices are forwarded and approved by accredited agencies that serve to oversee that competencies meet guidelines are put in place. The integration of evidence-based practices has impacted nursing research because it directly influences the different ways that are used to improve patient safety (Penno et al. 2019). It has also enhanced procedures used to integrate changes that promote efficient care and implementation of new initiatives. Some initiatives that are directly impacted by evidence-based practices include the clinical translational science award as well as the patient-centered grants. These developments target to facilitate the review and integration of evidence-based practices in nursing.
