First of all, the group needs to go through the excerpt selected so that they can have an in-depth understanding of the content. The strategy of reading the passage will be done by reading the text together and then having a discussion. Each member of the group will give his or her ideas about the theme presented. The purpose of listening to a lot of ideas is to trigger discussion among the group members. It is through the debate that the capability of presenting ideas of individuals will be assessed. After listening to diverse opinions, the group will have to come up with a harmonized conclusion, which will act as a position or stand of the group.
Materials or technology used
For any presentation of ideas to be active during the discussion, an appropriate channel is supposed to be used. There is a various selected channel which is known for better presentation. The first method is the use of a chalkboard, and the second one is projection using PowerPoint presentations. For this group activity, the projection using PowerPoint will be used. The rationale behind that selection is for better visual presentation. In addition to that, it will be an excellent method of assessing how the members of group are competent when it comes to present using PowerPoint. The PowerPoint presentation is a technology in a discussion which needs the presenter to have excellent skills of using it.
Explanation of skills addressed by assignment
The assignment is based on the discussion and presentation of ideas. In debating and presentation, the essential skill addressed includes extracting insight from the excerpt and supporting that idea comprehensively. It is one of the abilities which should be incorporated by the members in a group activity. Also, their skill of fluent speaking and being audible enough will be assessed. Finally, the listening skills of the members will also be evaluated.

The skill of speaking and listening will be assessed on how the members respond to a particular idea being presented. If there is an aspect of harmonization of ideas, then the discussion will be categorized as a successful one about speaking and listening
Finally, after the discussion, the group will come up with a report on the given assignment. The assignment is usually handled in a writing form, and therefore a writing process and formatting are expected. The writing process must include proper formatting of the paper according to guidelines. The organization of ideas within the report is supposed to be correct to achieve a required writing process.
