Exploration of Personal Values

Five personal values that are important to me

Perseverance

We live in a world where life problems have become a daily norm, and to get through the ups and downs that life throws to us, we need to persevere. Perseverance is a value that enables us to do anything despite the challenges that we face, and when life knocks up down, we can still get up and fight. Perseverance is an essential value to me because I believe that everyone fails at one point, but we have to respond to any bad situation and never give up on anything that we do. I also believe that this value is important because it is one of the main ingredients of a happy and successful life.

Confidence

The main component of confidence often is the value that I place on myself. Confidence is about the strong faith that you believe you have what it takes to complete an objective. For instance, if you are talented and extremely skilled, little confidence may prevent you from carrying out any task assigned to you. This is why I believe self-confidence is an important value that everybody should possess. This is because confidence gives most of us the courage to pursue our partners and psyches to attend job interviews with the belief that we will get the opportunity. Confidence tells our story in the most genuine way and is the representation of how we want to be perceived and how we view ourselves.

Hard work

I have come to believe that Hard work is both what we put physically and mentally on anything that we want to achieve. For instance, students need to work harder, both physically and mentally, so that they can get better grades. I believe in smart, hard work where one focus and desire are important in getting ahead. I believe hard work is important because it is one of the ways an individual can achieve their goals and objectives. For those people who are not wealthy or smart, hard work is the only way to get them out of their comfort zone. Hard work has five elements that should be considered to achieve any desire that one has:

• The drive: The drive is the inspiration, motivation, and reason that I work hard. This is the engine that pushes me forward at anything that I am working on
• The plan: The plan should map the course of action and help me to keep track of my progress
• The grind: This is where the working hard does not become fun and starts becoming stressful and discouraging. The grind always draws the line between the losers and winners
• The sacrifice: Any goal requires sacrifice, and enduring the strain in work without giving up is the sacrifice.
• The payoff: This is the outcome of the hard work and the goal that I had put in place.

Honesty

Honesty is the basis of my life as it defines my character before others. If I am always truthful in my undertakings, I will live a life where I worry less. With the value of honesty, I am able to use my thinking to come up with new ideas instead of defending myself each time. Honest intentions in action and speech often gain the respect and attention of others. Honesty is important to me as it enhances openness and empowers me to establish consistency. Honest sharpens my belief and enables me to view anything surrounding me with much clarity.

Fire

Fire is enthusiasm, and it is the excitement and passion for living life on my terms. Enthusiasm is named as fire because it shines inside us and will always carry me towards my goals and dreams. I believe that enthusiasm is important in my life because it is the fire inside me that gives me motivation and confidence to pursue my dreams. It is this fire that gets me out of bed to school because I know to be successful in life; I need to get good grades at school.

The goals for my educational, professional and personal achievement

Educational goals

The long term educational goal is that I graduate with a degree from the university. I know the process is going to be tough, but I believe the saying ‘The roots of education are bitter, but the fruits are sweet.’ Therefore with determination and perseverance, I believe I am going to graduate from the university with a good grade. To achieve this, I would have to work harder and smart in class, persevere in every challenge that I come across and have the self-confidence that I will achieve my dreams

Professional goal

Immediately after graduation, I am hoping to get an internship opportunity at any organization so that I can get real-life working experience. During this time, I would be open to correction from my supervisor and learn how to help the company achieve its objectives. After my internship period, I am hoping to get a formal employment opportunity at any organization where I can put the skills I learned from the internship into action. I am hoping to be a hardworking worker because I believe this is the path to promotions in the job. I would jump at any opportunity thrown at me and show the entire company that I can work as an individual and in a team to ensure that the company meets its objectives. I believe I have all that it takes to be productive at any company that I will be employed at.

Personal achievement

Five to ten years of working, I am hoping to get an opportunity to be an executive in the company. I have the confidence and fire inside me that I believe will get me there. It is at this time that I believe I will be able to start and take care of a family. My life dream was that I could start a family when I was financially stable and with a home that I call my own. I have never wanted my family to lack anything in life, and this has always motivated me to work hard in both the school and work. I believe, after some years of working in any company that I would have been employed at, I will be ready to start my own business that I can manage part-time as I work. At this time, I am hoping to be a successful person and to achieve that I have to have an effective plan in place. The plan is to ensure that I exercise the values of hard work, persistence, self-confidence, and enthusiasm (fire) in everything that I undertake.
