Marriage preparation programs take different forms depending on the needs of the couples. As a family life educator, one needs to be equipped with information and knowledge to handle the various challenges that couples go through effectively. The needs of the couples are different, and hence one needs to consider the different things that each couple believes in. Some couples choose to go for retreats while others decide to take part in classes. This experience is essential in translating family life education and family science in the context of improving family life experience. As a family life educator, I had the chance to present an FLE to a specific audience. During this presentation, there are a few things that worked well, while others could have worked better. This paper looks at some of the things that worked well and those that need to be improved and reflect on the work generated in the presentation.

During the presentation to the audience, there are a few things that went as planned. The first thing that worked well during the performance is that I was able to connect with the audience as they listened and asked questions in places where they needed clarification. Content delivery forms a big part of any presentation. Different people have different ways of capturing the information delivered to them. Any audience finds the information worthwhile, depending on the content provided to them. In my presentation, the audience was eager to listen as the knowledge delivered to them was well researched. The delivery of the information followed their expectations.

Another thing that worked for me is that I was able to communicate the objectives of the presentation effectively to the audience. It got achieved by focusing on the things that I wanted the audience to know during the presentation. These things include identifying some of the things that affect families. Many couples are far from perfect as they lack time to talk about some of the things that are affecting them. Through this program, I was able to market my family life education business as the people were pleased with the information I offered. They were also assured that the program was legitimate. Some relatives assisted in marketing the program by motivating the audience. Through the program, I was able to facilitate positivity in marriages. It was achieved by having prior knowledge about the audience and identifying some of the things that were affecting them. The culture was obtained by interviewing some couples on the things that affect their marriages.

There are also a few things that could have worked better during the presentation to the audience. First, there was a challenge in identifying the needs of the audience. The reason behind this is because there were a lot of issues that needed addressing. There are many things that couples preparing for marriage are concerned with. Some of them include support for families, responsibility, abuse, affection, and neglect. This part of the presentation needed to be worked on in a better way as I could not address all the issues that the audience felt needed to get addressed during the presentation. The gathering of information was a challenge as not all couples were willing to share their concerns for the presentation.

Another thing that could have gone better during the presentation is the utilization of information gathered. It was difficult to close the gap for couples preparing for marriage, as most of them had complex issues that required more time to address them appropriately completely. Different couples had different needs, which made it challenging to address all of them at the same time. The utilization of the information obtained from the couples was also a challenge. However, the presence of some old couples during the presentation made it easier to address the issues as they were willing to give their own experience to the young couples on the best ways to handle conflict and other problems in marriage. It was also challenging to explain to the couples what they should expect after marriage, as most of them were still convinced that nothing would go wrong as they loved each other. Although most couples get into marriage with positive expectations, problems may arise, which requires the couples to be equipped with the knowledge to handle the challenges (McCawley, 2009).

Several things need to get addressed for me to develop as a skilled family life educator. The first thing is that I need to improve my communication skills so that I can deliver the knowledge on how to build a healthy family understandably (Duncan & Goddard, 2016). The second thing that I need to improve is that of gathering information on the needs of the audience. It was a challenge to collect data from the audience. The third thing I need to develop is a healthy interpersonal relationship. It will enable me to establish a good relationship with my clients, where they will be free to tell me the things that are affecting them without fear of prejudice or stigmatization. Through this, the families will develop skills and knowledge to strengthen and enhance their wellbeing and interpersonal relationship. Another skill I need to improve is that of identifying the needs of the audience. Different couples have different requirements that require different addressing. Through this, I can help couples handle the various issues that they will experience in their marriages. The other skill I will need is the utilization of the information I gather about couples’ issues.

Family life educators work in a variety of settings to train families on how to live together and overcome their challenges. There are a lot of people in the community who require the services of a family life educator, and hence it would be an excellent place for one to start up their business. To set up your business, one would require a few skills to start up the business. First, it is essential to know the needs of the people in the society you are going to serve as an educator. Different people have different needs. When setting up the business, it is essential to determine whether the business will betake the profit or nonprofit business culture. It can get done by identifying the economic power of the people you are serving in the community (Wright, Simmons & Campbell, 2007). By understanding this information, one can make informed decisions about what is useful in implementing the FLE business. When proposing the industry, it is also essential to look at the advantages and disadvantages of the nonprofit and the profit business structure. It will assist in making an informed decision on the best form of business structure to undertake. It is also essential to check the legal requirements for setting up the business in the identified community. It will ensure that one complies with all the necessities to avoid fines.

It is also vital when proposing the family life education business to check the financial aspect of the business. One should identify the ways through which they will finance the business. Various business proposals have different financial needs depending on the available resources. For example, in case the company will be in a hospital setting or school, the hospital or school management may allocate a room for you to work in. However, if you decide to work in a community setting, one has to find their own office, which may require more financing. It is also essential that one identifies the various viable ways to fund their business. One can obtain financial assistance from a friend or family or a bank loan. It is important to clarify when receiving funds from friends and families, whether the funding is a grant or an investment that needs to get paid back. It will help to avoid conflicts that may arise in the future. From the information obtained on marketing, setting up a business, and financing it, the proposal I would recommend for business in the family life education business is to work in a community setting where there are more people with various needs. The business should be based on a profit structure and funded through ones saving if possible.
