FAN FICTION
“The night is so cold,” Mrs Halima tells his younger brother James who they are living with in the same apartment in Texas City. She has just arrived from work and was doing the dishes in the kitchen while James is watching the news in the guest room. She quickly cleans up the kitchen and keeps it orderly. Then she joins James in the guest room to watch television together.” look, is that not the president’s daughter? She looks fantastic.” She compliments the president’s daughter as she looks at James as if she was telling him something. James immediately responds in a polite sarcastic tone, “I think I should get her number sister.right?” They all laugh together, and Halima slowly wakes off her couch. She bids goodnight to her brother and heads to her bedroom.
She opens the bedroom door; indeed, you would never have known the place yourself. The ceiling was whitened, and faded drab woodwork was painted white. The walls had been coloured a beautiful soft green. Back of the counter, a series of shelves glassed in by sliding doors ran the whole length of the wall and nearly to the ceiling. Behind the showcase stood a comfortable, cushioned swivel-chair. She slowly walked in as if she was in a fashion competition and sat swivel chair and carefully slides the zip on the back of her dress slowly in a suggestive manner as if sleeping was not her only reason she was there. After unzipping the dress, she slowly slides it down her curvy body. The next thing she slowly undoes her bra, who! She did not need one, and her breasts were tilting at an angle almost equal to ninety degrees on their own. She finally undresses and puts on her pyjamas, and she jumps on the bed. She replies to some email on her phone, and she puts off the lights and sleeps soundly.
A knock is heard, “sister! Halima! Halima!” James has been knocking for the last two hours with no response. He decides to get help from the neighbour who helps him in breaking the door. “Jesus! Jesus!” James shouts in disbelieve. The rest of the neighbours are all in shock; they can not contemplate what they see at the moment. Halima was lying in her bed, breathlessly in a pool of blood with her throat and wrist all sliced apart with a very sharp object. The neighbour alerts the police, and within no time, the detective and the police arrive. Detective John is assigned the case immediately. The detective explains to him that he needs the story of what happened since Halima’s arrival from the hospital where she was working as a nurse. James narrated his side of the story to the detective, but also he was taken to the police station for further questioning.the house is locked and is under police until the investigation is over. While James heads to the police station with John, Halima’s body being taken to the morgue by the police.
Later that day, John comes back to gather evidence on what possibly happened the previous night. James has something more than just human he can read people’s minds and seeing things as they happened. He starts from the kitchen and looks for anything suspicious, but there is nothing. He slowly walks to Halima’s bedroom. In this room, not much is suspicious because even the murder weapon was not recovered in the crime scene. He looks all over, but a thing seems very much okay. There is no broken window, so where could the killer have gained entry. He becomes so confused that he decides to get back to the police station.
When he arrives at the station, James is still held in the station. Yet, no charges have been filed since there is no evidence, nor is there a motive. John wants again to revisit James’s story on the previous night, and James repeats the same story. John feels that there is something that James is keeping from him. He decides to counter check the background of the two siblings, and he finds out that John is not a blood brother to Halima. Halima was adopted, and it has been five years since their parents died, and Halima has been taking care of his stepbrother until he came of age. The parent did not have a lot but a house and a few residential areas and had a sizeable amount of money in their bank account that would only mature once James had attained a college degree. James is expected to graduate in two months, and then the bank would split both of them the amount. At this point, John feels that he has identified a motive.
He goes home where he lives with his small family, a wife and a daughter. He is exasperated and takes a shower and goes as he waits the following days. All through the night, he cannot understand why he can’t be able to read James’ mind nor go back in time and see what killed her. The following day he wakes up as usual and reports to the station. James is still at the station. He starts questioning him on what he found yesterday, but James admits about all that, but he seems surprised that their parent had left money in the bank. He has no clue of any of this. The detective gets annoyed and assumes that he is the prime suspect since he has identified a motive.
Though confused about how the case is turning out, he goes back to Halima’s house to re-examine it; maybe he missed something. He goes through the house again; there is nothing that can help solve the case. He walks out, but on his way out, he finds something weird on the flower garden; it so disorganized as if something fell on it.he comes closer to it and looks at it attentively, and he sees some strains of blood and a phone. He picks the phone and takes it to the station, and it turns out that its neither Halima’s phone or James’s phone. So who owns the phone?
John is confused at this point, but he takes it to the police technical department, and the phone data is recovered. He tries to focus and go back in time and find who possibly owned the phone and whether it’s connected to her murder, but he can’t concentrate. He gets a severe headache.what is recovered in the phone is that there is a conversation between two people. One is a lady, and the other is a man, and they seem to be intimate. The lady turns out to be Halima, and she had two phones, why? The department reveals essential information that would help solve the case. The two are talking on how they would enjoy life after the date of graduation of James. John is getting confused on how things are unfolding.
John, for the third time, goes back to the Halimas house to make sure there is nothing he missed in his two occasion visit. This time his concentration and focus are achieved, and for a few seconds, he sees someone coming in a tiny hidden door just behind the chair beside the window. John immediately comes back to the present. He breaks into it, and the door leads him to James’s bedroom. In these tunnels, it turns out it is where James had been keeping his thing. And it’s in this place where James kept the murder weapon the knife he used against her. At this point, he also gains the ability to go back in when the action was happening.
He observes all that happened. It turns out that James was secretly admiring her sister, given they were not related at all. He found it much okay. So when James noted that Halima was planning to move out and live with another man, he got angry. He confronted her on this issue after she went to her bedroom, Halima could not understand how James expected her to live with him as a man while all along they have been siblings. They engaged in a heated conversation mainly. James felt that Halima was entitled to live with him and bear children for him as a form of thanksgiving for being taken care of by his parents. James became violent and took out a knife from his pocket a sliced her throat and her wrists, and she bleeds to death. He carefully covered all pieces of evidence.
John takes with him the evidence and prints, and DNA
confirms that actually, James was the murderer of her sister indeed. He is convicted and imprisoned for life on a first-degree murder account by the states of Texas.
From Jonathan’s fanfiction, his main character Holmes is portrayed to have the ability to cure people of their disease by just looking in their eyes. He can integrate his story and his fiction in a way that the novel appears to be more realistic to the reader. There is no much change between the original story and his story because both stories the author uses fiction to help people.
What worked best in it is the way his ability to cure people is not just for anyone. Jonathan puts the fiction in such a way that it is selective of who to heal depending on the level of morality involved.
