finance relationships between countries
Finance is the brain, heart, and soul of any industry in the globalised world. Today, the boundaries between countries are swiftly vanishing away, so the understanding of Finance requires a more holistic and international view of the industry. Leading business executives and successful entrepreneurs have intrigued me ever since my childhood. The more I learned about their struggles and accomplishments, the more I found myself drawn to the engaging world of business. Though I could not relate myself to their stories of struggles but had an utter determination to be one among them and would often visualize myself in diverse corporate roles and try to get a feel of it. With the gradual passage of time, it became amply clear to me that I would want to pursue a strong, world-class education and started envisaging a career in business and management. I did my schooling from Dhanbad Public School, Dhanbad, Jharkhand and secured first-class marks in my board exam from CBSE, 10th– 70.20 %& 12th– 83 %. After finishing school moved to Pune andjoinedSt.Mira’s College, Maharashtra, which has one of the best faculties in Pune, to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Costing as major subject. I was introduced to diverse subjects ranging from Corporate Accountancy, Auditing & Assurance, Cost & Work Accountancy, Corporate Law. These subjects fuelled my interest in business and helped me develop a comprehensive background and enrich my knowledge in these disciplines. However, I would like to mention three of my favourite subjects -Auditing- which helped me understand how important Audit is for companies in fraud prevention. A famous quote from our course books that I cannot forget is, “An auditor is a watchdog, not a bloodhound.” Accountancy -helped me make sense of scams. Little did I realize then that these words were soon going to be a part of our Bible, albeit ‘Balance sheets,’ ‘Creditors,’ ‘Credit,’ ‘Assets,’ ‘Embezzlement’ and many more high-sounding words greeted us every day in our classrooms. I became a voracious reader and an avid researcher of all the accounting jargon and accounts-related scams. Next thing I know, I was the topper in Accountancy and scored 83% in my graduation.
After completing my graduation, I started working with Metro Services, India, where I worked as an Analyst for 3.5 years. My role involved accounts receivable & controlling and reporting. I always wanted to grow my knowledge; hence, along with my work, I decided to pursue CMA (Cost & Management Accountancy) and completed my foundation course. I have also worked with BNY Mellon, India, for 2 years, and my job profile included capital market and derivates. The new job profile helped me relate with my CMA subjects, which made the work environment more engaging and interesting. I worked on credit analysis, report preparation based on FATCA, futures, swaps, bonds and more. On the parallel level, I was studying and completed my CMA Intermediate both groups at one sitting from Kolkata and received a Certificate of Merit as well. Because of my CMA Intermediate, I received a job offer from my current organization Maersk Group, India where work involves cost analysis and reporting along with cost validation. Maersk helped me gained more knowledge regarding the shipping industry and improved my leadership qualities, which led me to earn 5 rewards in 2.5 years of service. Also, to mention, I have completed group IV (Final) for CMA.
