Fishing

Fishing is the act of catching fish for food, as a sport, and also for trade. There are several techniques of fishing, which include trapping, hand gathering, and hooking. Fishing is not only the practice of catching fish but also other aquatic animals and edible marine invertebrates. These practice date back to ancient times and has been done globally with different methods and traditions. In the modern era, fishing practice varies from profitable ships gathering food fish on a massive scale to people fetching food for families and from a fun activity like stream fishing to skilled deep-sea sport fishing (Abbott,2016). Therefore, recreational fishing offers much more than a regular game. It develops a logical balance, boosts family ties, enhances a spirit of gratitude, unity in the natural world, and prompts order and implants modesty. The act of fishing stimulates happiness, pleasure, and adventure in natural environments. It enhances focus and alertness when hunting unseen sea creatures. It involves both the young and old, male and female, thus strengthening family ties, which honors the aspect of gender equality. Research has developed the fishing practice, which has been through trial and error (Abbott,2016). Fishers have come up with theories on how to catch fish as per the experience. How fish behaves is influenced by climatic change, and continuous research is done to maintain an efficient process.

Fishing was practiced in the pre-history era and developed to economic activity in antiquity. Archaeological tools like fish bones, shells, and paintings in the caves indicated that fishing was essential for survival (Fagan, 2016). During the medieval age, new technologies of fishing were introduced and are still in use today. The techniques of fishing used in Egypt were seen in caves drawings and papyrus articles. Fishing in ancient Greek was thought to be a low-status occupation. All communities that had settled near river shores established forms of fishing, and fish became their diet. The emergence of deep-sea fishing was in the 15 century, and it kicked off in the 19 century after the discovery of the steamboats. Fishing needed powerful trawlers that could pull weighty nets. Initially, fishing was practiced by wealthy merchants, but after the advancement of technology and cheaper equipment’s more people accessed it as a recreational practice. The history of fisheries provided a platform for new developments through research activity, and different structures have been established to support this practice.

Fishing has a way of connecting with the sensory organs that help in meditation and have almost the same benefits as meditation. Fishing activities provide a chance to meditate on different aspects of life and bring them into perspective. Foucault’s rule of exclusion deals with prohibition, which entails casing objects, ceremonies within their adjacent circumstances, and fashionable right to express on a particular theme, most notably on subjects on sexuality and politics (Fagan, 2016). These rules of exclusion are inter-related with our ways of fishing, and the methods fishers apply to lure a fish into a trap and cage it. Politicians fish out votes with pressing issues in the society with a promise to address and change lives, but after they get into power, they serve their gain. These are correctly seen with how easily fish is trapped with bait, and the fishermen benefit with food or an exchange commodity.

The subject of slavery that brings oppression of a particular race and people of a specific nationality demonstrates that a slave is one under the ruthless power and authority of another. The enslaved individuals were often handled like animals and used for the owner’s profit. Slaves had limited rights and protection and existed as a property that is bound and oppressed like an animal that had little or no rights (Hartman, 1997). Sentimentality, pleasure, empathy, will, and longing enable conquest, control, and dread, particularly by predatory upon the flesh, the heart, and the soul. Fish are animals whose primary purpose is for food consumption, a commodity in the market, and recreational purposes. Theories of fishing that were established in the past and the present one’s stresses on factual context and biological relations.

These theories advocate for an ideal way of production that views individuals as an independent separate that are involved in the process of catching fish. However, a different approach is required that honors the economy of fishing and the social aspect that allows production. The process of fishing portrays an element of self-defense, which consists of four techniques that help in achieving the goal. Firstly, a motiveless attack is also applied in fishing. Secondly, after attacking techniques are used that cause injury or death (Hartman, 1997). The third element should possess a reasonable objective and force. Lastly, it creates a sense of fear of injury and death.

The art of fishing can be underrated; people involved can organize a protest to air out the issues. The black Americans civil movement protested as a way of demanding their rights to several things they had no access to. Fishing involves these three processes in such a way that you act on your thoughts and plans sensibly, then there is the application of defense mechanisms if necessary and finally protests or fights to obtain what is legally yours. Guerrilla warfare is an unpredicted war that involves small groups of soldiers or armed citizens who use military techniques such as raids, traps disruptions, hit and run strategies, and motion to combat a vast and immobile traditional military (Guevara, 2002). The procedures applied are grounded on intellect, ambush, trickery, and surveillance, declining from authority through deep hostility and uses publicity to recruit more fighters and get approval from locals. The operation usually is thriving against the unpopular local rule.  A guerrilla fighter is more concerned with social reforms. It often demonstrates against the leader that is oppressing the people and liberating the brothers from dictatorship rule and to change social systems. Guerrilla warfare portrays the desire of people to free themselves from oppression.

Guerrilla fighters just like in fishing must have adequate information on the surrounding countryside, the routes to go through and also escape the actuality of quick maneuvers, appropriate hiding places, and the surveillance of the position to attack and persuade the local people to support the fight (Guevara, 2002). Fishing activities portray the strategies used in this kind of warfare’s as the fisherman must always survey new places before indulging in fishing activities, know places with high production, and understand the geography of a given area.

Conclusively, fishing entails the combination of human intellect, skill, and experience. The combination of these elements is necessary in many aspects of life, such as warfare and the professional world. Fishing has been practiced over the ages, therefore, becoming a historical pointer for readers. Due to its contribution to the world economies, it will span for many more generations in the future, contributing to the overall wellness of human beings.
